Leaves in the Heater/ A/C unit

I have a 2008 SE and some leaves got sucked from the hood into the heater, A/C unit and it makes a bunch of noise when its on. How do I start to fix the problem? I figured I would have to get into the heater unit, but not sure how to.

Anyone have something? I figure I will have to get into the fan box, but I don't know the best way. Do I need to take the whole dash out? With it having airbags I am a little weary about it. Thanks in advance.

I take it that the cabin air filter was not in place or deteriorated to a point where crap got through it and into the fan. Pull the cabin filter out and see what is going on. This subject has been discussed on the forum a number of times. You can also find out how to remove the filter on You Tube. Walmart carries Fram cabin air filters. Regards. PS. Getting into the heater is a major pain in the ass. I think you have something in the blower which can be removed by disconnecting the power and probably four or five fasteners.
