Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my factory alarm after replacing the battery on my 08' LE.
The red LED on the left bottom side of the steering wheels is blinking non-stop in increments of two.. even while the car is unlocked and I'm driving.
Also, when I used to press the lock button on my FOB twice, it used to honk once telling me that it's armed. Not anymore, it doesnt honk and I dont think it arms it.
I've tried taking the + on the battery off for 10 min and putting it back on but nothing.
Any ideas? I really dont have the time to take my car to the dealers so hopefully this is a quick fix, like an alarm reset or something. Thanks in advance!
i was just about to type this same damn question, mines a 2010 though ... same light blink nonstop in increments of 2 but my horn honks when i shut the car off and everytime i arm it ... not thread jacking just showing more then one person needs a answer
An 08? It sounds like you have a third party or after market alarm system. The stock system from Toyota does not have a light that would blink to the left of the steering wheel, and the lock sequence requires that you touch lock one time. Sounds like it needs to be reprogrammed, but how, and by whom, depends on who put it in to begin with.

Im gonna try calling my local dealers to see if I can get a fix over the phone. Im also gonna try picking up my spare keys from my folks home to see if that makes any difference..
Im pretty sure my alarm is stock. I bought it brand new and an aftermarket alarm was never mentioned.. I shall check my glovebox for clarification.
Repeating, the factory system does not have any flashing lights on the left side of the steering wheel. Try to go back to the dealer that sold the system. It isn't stock Toyota, so they will need to fix it.

I stopped by a local Toyota dealer and a friendly salesman took a look at it and told me that it indeed is NOT a factory alarm. I did not know because my dealer never told me they installed their "own" alarm for free (Longo Toyota in socal)
Anyhow, he asked a service mechanic about it and this was how it was reset.
1. Look for a black reset button under your dash, I found mine right under the blinking red light
2. Press and hold this reset button while going to step 3
3. Turn key to second click without turning on the engine
4. Still hold the reset button for 5 sec
5. Now turn the car off, take the keys out
6. Let go of the reset and you should hear a "honk honk"

Done!
be sure to keep a copy or two of this procedure in your glove box, with the owner's manual...
the only "blinking light" my camry has is on the dashboard where the clock is, factory.
