2009 SE 2.4 2AZ-FE loosing coolant

Hey guys. I have a 2009 Camry SE 2.4 2AZ-FE. I bought it new and it has 71k miles now. Took it in to the dealer at 59K because the coolant res was empty. They suspected water pump but found no leaks. They simply filled the res tank and said they would note the issue in case there were further problems. Well, it's empty again. No leaks at the pump or near the intake foam or anywhere else I can see. No steam in the exhaust. No over heating. I pulled the plugs and they all look fine (not steam cleaned as they might look if coolant was making its way to the combustion chamber). Runs fine except for rough idle with the a/c on. It seemed to slowly empty over time the first time and quicker the second time. Gonna take it back to the dealer but I'm wondering if anybody else has this problem. Could it be normal? Thanks

it is not normal to lose coolant. check again, look at the back of the engine. did they do a pressure test? the smallest of all leaks would show up under pressure. you could even have a hose clamp that is loose as well, so double check all hoses again. although rare, check to make sure the reservoir tank isn't cracked at the bottom.

I have the same problem with my 07 XLE 2AZ engine. My dealer has filled up the overflow tank twice over the years. I have 56,000 miles on my car now. They also took a visual look at the water pump but could not find any evidence of a leak. I too wanted to get it on record but am not too concerned. I have the extended warranty to 7 (or 8 years) or 125,000 miles. There is some evaporation from the overflow tank as it is not a completely sealed system.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna schedule an appointment to take it in and I'll be asking that they do a pressure test.

Look at the hood liner above the pump for evidence of coolant spraying up onto it as the pump turns.
