5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Got my car back today and I was told the computer was reset. After I drove it off the lot it felt extremely sluggish. Im hoping its because of the ECU reset and that the computer is learning how i drive. Any help guys?
Also my check engine, VSC, traction control and ABS lights are on. Ill be going to get a free diagnostic test tomorrow as a result of all this.
My golden rule is to let the car idle for 10-15 minutes after the ECU is reset. If it feels sluggish I would just reset it and do this. That is what you are suppose to do but a lot of people do not follow these instructions. The car does not learn your personal driving habits, it learns how the car operates with all the fuel mixtures, etc.
took the car out for a spin this morning...it felt a bit different but overall still quite the same. Ill take a long drive today and see if anything changes. Thanks for the help guys.

isn't your check engine light on? get the code read if you have your own scanner tool or go to autozone if you can't wait for the diagnostic test.
whoever did the repairs should do the diagnostic test and any resulting repairs for free... since they obviously didn't do it right the first time.

Yes i have a total of four lights on: VSC, CEL, the car slipping on the road light, and ABS. And up until about an hour ago the low gasoline light but 60 of premium gas took care of that
UPDATE: the car is more still the same and its really pissing me off. For god sake its a v6 and it take the car literally 10 seconds to get to 20 while floored.
PS. I havent payed a dime for anything that was done except what i paid another place to install my new HU. Which came out beautifully might i add lol
So were these lights on prior to the shop f*cking up your car? Did you take it to the dealer?
Obviously your car is not going to run right if you have every warning light on.

No this car never had a light on before i brought it to the shop nor while it was under my ownership. I am hesitant to take it to a dealer because im afraid it will void my warranty. What do you guys think?
I think the only solution is to bring your car to a shop/dealer and run a complete diagnosis on your car. Every fee should be paid by a shop who installed your HU. Bringing your car to a dealer may void your warranty, but that may prevent more problems.

You bring up a very good point but my warranty is actually too important to me to lose it. I will do exactly that though, just take it to get a complete analysis and just present them with the bill.
