Amp went out in 2007 Camry w/ JBL System

Hey everyone,

So the other day my amp went out and I lost power to all my speakers excluding the tweeters up front. This is the stock JBL sound system and it has the amp underneath the passenger front seat.

I'm not sure what it was, but I'm assuming a fuse has blown. Does anyone know where/how to access this fuse so I can at least eliminate this variable from the equation and/or hopefully solve the issue simply and cheaply?

I called the stealership today and the guy told me that there was no fuse between the amp and the battery...but does that sound wrong to anyone else? I would imagine that there would be a fuse for any electrical device in the car...but then again, I haven't done too much research in the field.

Any advice/input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-Alex

A 25 amp fuse is under the hood, just below the EFI fuse, marked AMP...

Shot in the dark, but make sure you don't have anything in the trunk touching the speakers/wires. Both times my amp "cut out" I had a trunkful of stuff coming home and some how the contact was doing something weird. Once I removed the stuff, things seemed to work again flawlessly. Weird.

Luna and Joe, thank you for your responses. Joe, that's why did didn't name you Nunamaker.

I checked the fuse and it's fine, so it must be something else. I'll start removing stuff from the trunk and making sure nothing's touching the speaker wires just to be safe...

I'm a bit concerned now because I recently took my car to one of those full-service car washes that sprays the interior with some scent, and I'm wondering if maybe they sprayed the floor too much and it got into the amp and shorted it out or something...does this sound plausible?

If this is the case, does anyone know anywhere beside a junk yard I could get this amp from? Otherwise I might just rewire everything......but that will be a huge pain.

Thanks again for your quick responses

Joe Dirt, you're my hero. I removed the stroller from the back of the trunk and made sure no wires were touching the speakers and it works fine now!
Now why the eff would that happen? That seems a bit odd, but at least I know how to fix it now. Thanks again
