5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys, I'm trying to complete my 30K scheduled maintenance for my 2010 Camry SE 3.5L 6cyl and am having trouble finding an air filter. The Toyota part number is 17801-OH50, however I'm trying to find a fram or stp filter. The part number I've found on the computer at wal-mart and autozone is either CA10169 OR SA10169, but they don't fit. Does someone know the aftermarket part number that does fit?
Take the original one to the parts store and match it up if you can. I have an 07 and it is likely the same thing. Sort of rigid and hard to fit in, but it fits. If this is such a chore in your area, perhaps just getting one from the dealer at a slightly higher price would compensate you for the time consumed trying to find an aftermarket filter.

Over the years, I have found the best value on oil changes and quality parts is actually the dealer. Just last Wednesday, Bob Tyler Toyota in Pensacola replaced my 3.5L V6 2GR-FE air filter with genuine Toyota part # 17801-AD010 for $19.95 - no charge for labor.
[I had it at in for 40K mile oil change anyway: Synthetic 6 quart Mobil 1 Oil & Filter change (SN rated 5W30 individual quarts right out of the box) $62.05, Replace Wiper Blades $19.95 - no charge for labor, Free multi point inspection where tech goes over entire car with fine tooth comb including battery test, brake pad measurement, check all fluids, tire depth, yada yada - peace of mind: priceless. Had the battery replaced with a 7 year Genuine Toyota depsite the fact it checked out fine (too many dead batteries around here due to extreme heat) $122.11. Every Wednesday is Ladies Day at Bob Tyler ....... so the gal that was with me got her nails done free. In and out in about an hour with no appointment and I got to watch the work being done in the service bay, too.]

Reason: Forgot about ladies day !!
Better yet... Just get rid of that airbox and go with the K&N Cold Air Intake System. Worth every penny. Easy to install. I found it for around $200. Long term.

FYI, there is minimal performance gain. So minimal that you won't even know. The only gain you get is deeper sound. Its up to the OP or other users if they want to spend $200 for a deeper sound.
Hmm. Really? I respectfully disagree. I have already increased my mileage dramatically and it is dyno proven for the 2gr-fe engine... The sound is pretty sweet as well. The car has a lot more top end that I can feel. Low end power is roughly the same from a butt dyno.
^Perhaps if it is too over-oiled. I have been using K&N filters for ages with no problems whatsoever. I have even torn apart engines that have been using K&N air filters-nothing.

Read other user experience on the forums. Cold air is more for low rpm n short ram in more for high rpm. Improvement in mpg? Yea, I give it that but its all a matter of your driving habits. But to me, its a placebo effect. Your engine sounds louder, you think you're going faster so you're easier on the gas.
K&N intake??? (SRI and only feels it at 4000rpm. At 4000rpm, you're burning a lot of gas)
All these intakes are just straight piping that allows air to flow to your engine easier. Taking out the stock air filter and putting in a K&N permanent air filter is pretty much the same. A K&N drop-in replacement air filter will give you about another 1-4 horsepower depending on application, as well as improved throttle response and acceleration. But to each their own.

I never had a problem. I agree with arabianobsession. Its probably over oiled. Usually, when I re-oil it, I wait 2-3 days before I put it back on and drive.
