Clicking sound 2009 Camry LE

First time post:

Hi guys, i have a 2009 Camry LE. I got it (used with 43.000 miles in February 2011) i've noticed a clicking sound when i am turning the wheel in either direction half way or more. The clicking speeds up as the car does and slows as the car slows. It's more noticeable at low speeds. I've read about the ABS clicking when the car is started but the noise is not present unless turning.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It sounds like the steering wheel shaft assembly issue/TSB:

http://sumbiz03.home.comcast.net/~su...eringClunk.pdf

But its covered under the 3year/36000 mile warranty.

Check this thread out:

For anyone having steering popping and knocking syndromes...

Some people greased the shaft assembly and resolved the clicking sound temporarily.

Sounds like a possible bad CV joint to me.

This happened to me also. Toyota wanted me to replace the intermediate shaft and that would have cost me 700 dollars. Luckily, another dealer greased it and looks like the clicking noise/feeling has gone but who knows if it will be back. Mine is a 2009 car...

Alright, so they just called and told me that the CV joint had a crack in it and it was slowly leaking oil and that it was a matter of time before the whole axle went bad, PHEW. lucky i took it in. They said that it is covered under warranty and that they will have it replaced by tomorrow morning as they had to order the parts. All I had to pay is $22 for the two day rental and put like $5 in gas in the car. WOOO

OK so i only just now got a free minute and jacked the car up. There is grease (small amount) coming from the outer CV joint on the passenger side

is this covered by warranty?

I should also mention that i had a blow out on that side which probably caused it, or at least Toyota will say so.

Thanks for all the help. Deluxe toaster model upgrade to the best answer
