Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I just filled up my car running with the empty light on. I got 331 on the tank and filled it with 15.3 gallons, equating to 21.6 mpg
I rarely floor it and just let it shift at 2k. I do about 100 miles freeway and the rest city.
I guess my 19s and using A/C 95% of the time are the blame, but this is absolute shit
I think it's time to ditch the looks and put the oem wheels on
Post up your Gen 6 mpg, hwy/city miles, and what size wheels you have if you have aftermarket wheels.

We can get with the 2010 XLE V6 35mpg hwy, around 25-28 City
I get about 22-23 on my V6. I do both highway and city.
I remember MythBusters doing a test on mpg with windows down and AC on. If I remember correctly, there was really no difference in mpg. The city driving will lower your mpg though.
What everyone else said... Get yourself a k&n drop in filter (do not make any intakes for the 2.5 yet). Make sure you are running 0w20/5w20 full synthetic. Driving habits... Mainly city driving you are going to get crap with the I4 and V6... Nature of any vehicle. How long did you go on that tank of gas (days/weeks)??? Perfect example. Say you drive 5 miles a day... So much gas will go to waste in that period before you fill up because of something called evaporation... It is science.
My v6 gets around 20mpg hwy/city with oem alloy wheels.
Ouch. I'm on OEM alloy wheels too. Someones got a heavy foot Even when I did more city than hwy, my mpg was 21-22. Winter time really sucked though. I would get 19-20mpg

yes, i have a heavy foot, very heavy foot lol. If i drive like a grandma i get like 23mpg combined, but i like my v6 and really like to use it. Hence why im not really worried about gas haha, your gonna have to fill up sooner or later, might as well have some fun. This is just me though, im 20 years old so it explains the heavy foot but i drive responsibly.

What is the width of your tires? I rarely get over 21 mpg with my 07 SE I4. I have 19's on my car now with 245 width. The picture on in my sig show my old 20's, also with 245s. I drive about 90% city, lots of hills and short drives. I try to keep the shifts at 2000 rpm. I was thinking the the 2.5 I4 would have better numbers then the older one. I really feel that getting the V6 is a way better option since the mileage seem about the same.

Read the following regarding myths about gas and evaporation. It's basically negligible. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/gastips.asp
Also, a gallon of gas weighs roughly 6 lbs. So people who pump only until half-tank are saving about 50lbs of weight (assuming tank is 17 gallons). I doubt this could really be a factor, but probably for the hyper-milers it is.

I get between 22-24 with city/hwy with mostly city in my '11 I4 SE. I've only been able to muster 32 on the hwy. I'm not too happy with the mileage I'm getting out of this camry vs my fiance's '05 I4 SE or my '06 Scion tC that I traded in. I've been able to average 35-38 in her '05 and 34-36 in my tC. Still a newish car, so I'm not throwing in the towel just yet, but I'm still hoping to pull more.

I used to get about 410-420 miles per tank when i used to do 90% highway 10% city driving .. Now seems like im doing about 350-360 miles per tank doing 70% city 30% highway
Now i think depends where u live ... Alot of hills and stuff like that ...
Even though i have 2 altimas v4 and pull 400 miles per gallon no matter what ...
Few things ... Camry is a really heavy car .. Trans, block, etc r heavier than the parts nissan is using but the have a point here ... Seems like next time getting a v6 it wont be a bad idea .! Hahaha
I had a infiniti for few days and i was pulling about the same mileage and it was a fun to push n feel da engine ...
well i cannot tell you by the tank how many miles i can go, but i can tell you that with my LE, I4, automatic, stock wheels, and only a K&N air filter, i can get 35 mpg's....
now, idling, and using the A/C WILL affect mileage to some degree. but i will not stop using my A/C just to get better mileage.
tires, and tire inflation DO PLAY a role in mileage as well. maybe your tires are hurting your mileage, and maybe you "might be" a bit heavy on the gas pedal, and not even realize it..
then too, you might need a few more miles on the clock, as the engine may still be a "bit too green" to get better numbers.
