Can someone please help me out. I video taped my car being started. This has been going on for awhile now. Sometimes the noise would be longer and louder or very short like this one. It only makes a noise if you start it in warm to hot weather. What is this noise from? Thank you!

i would get it up on jack stands, get underneath it, have someone start it up for you. or, you could just open the hood, locate the starter, and put your hand on it, then have someone start it for you..feel for any vibrations
i am thinking it might be flywheel/flex-plate as well.......
Once i release the key, the noise comes up. Well the weather is a weird thing because when i start it in San Francisco, where the weather is cooler and fog, the noise does not come on at all. no matter how many times i start it. In San Jose, where it's warmer right now, it makes this noise.

yes, as you know we need to use the key to start it, and when we release it, it's supposed to cut off the circuit to the starter. so i am wondering/thinking if after you release the key, the starter drive is still engaged into the flywheel...
maybe due to the warmer temps, there is expansion of the metal parts, that cause this.
there is the checks i told you about. you could even take out the starter and take it to auto zone, pep boys and have them bench test it. i do not believe you told us the year and miles on your car either.

My car is Camry 2007 LE V6 with 74300 miles. I also have the 7 year/100,000 miles powertrain warranty also. So i might just go the the dealer and ask if it's covered.
omg thats the problem with forums is most ppl are guessing.. it IS the timing chain tensioner.. its a tad loose and youll get that noise on start up, its no big deal and if you can deal with it then dont dish out the cash tell you replace the chain if you have it that long lol

I still have it under my platinum/premium 7 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. Brought it to to the dealership and showed the master tech the video. He said it sounds like the timing (something) that deals with the oil going into the camshaft. It like 14 hours job and the whole engine needs to be taken out. If that "is" what he thinks but he is not sure. My car is still in the shop.
I had the same noise on 1 of my camrys and fixed it on the 2nd camey it started making the same noise at 250k but I didn't bother with it on that one and 200k later it still makes the chain rattle but no problems

Gee, you can tell that from a 5 sceond video. I bow to your knowledge. Now riddle me this Batman, which one of the 4 chains in this engine are making that noise? Duh...
