HELP!! My FOGS will NOT turn on shortly after HID install!
Good Morning, Fellas..
Here's my story:
I purchased a set of HIDs for my 2010 SE fogs last week from DDM Tuning and couldn't wait to install them. Since I purchased my low beam set from there, it made a lot of sense to get the matching pair from them too. Anyway, after the install, all was working fine. I did a few test sessions to make sure they would turn off and on the way they were supposed to and they passed.
Here's my situation:
As I am driving home from a friends house (shortly after the install), I realized that my switch was turn to ON and not AUTO. I turned my switch from ON to AUTO while driving.. After doing so, I noticed that the road in front of my were not as bright as they were before turning the switch. I pulled over and saw that my fog lights were no longer on.. I played with the fog light switch switch, turning them off and on and the only light I would see go on and off, was the one on my dash (the fog lamp indicator).
I have since switched ballasts with my low beams and STILL.. NOTHING. I don't understand what happened and why BOTH fogs have gone out?!? I checked the 10A fuse under the hood that is linked to the front fogs and it's good. I checked the HID bulb and it looks to be burned out, BUT I also plugged my stock halogen H11 bulb into the socket and NOTHING. That puzzles me more..
Hey Luna, my brake and taillights are working properly, but I have not checked the relay under the dash.. Honestly, I don't even know where to begin when it comes to checking that. What exactly would I be looking for and would you happen to have a TN link to how to access the relay under the dash?

The fog relay is under/behind the coin drawer to the left of the steering wheel. Also I stated to check the tail lights not brake lights, the fog relay gets its power from the tail light circuit so it will only turn on the fog lights with the low beams and tail lights.

isn't there a fuse for each fog light? i remember my friend would do the same thing, turning the switch from auto to on and back and forth many times...he blew a few fuses cause he wired his hid's directly to the stock connectors

Single fuse under the hood for both lamps. The fog relay is mounted with the fuses (above and toward the coin drawer), under the dash on the far left and it should be the left most relay of 5 across the bottom. On my 2011, you have to pull the coin drawer with the attached dash piece to find it and gain access.

If the one fuse checks good, you may have fried the high current contact in the relay.

yup i second the relay install for the fogs. to test and make sure everything works, ballast and bulbs. just give it power from the battery. should be good. then install a relay and see if it works then. if after that there are still problems then i dont know what to say

For me, when I installed my HID I did ran into the same problem. I installed everything correctly. Turns out the polarity between oem and HID kid were reversed. So to make it right I had to reverse the connector.
the HID had the protection for such reverse of polarity. So everything works fine after.
