How to remove overhead console

Hey,

Can anyone shed some light on how to remove the overhead console (console with the sun glass holder & map lights). I need to remove that whole assembly but its not coming out with mild to moderate force.

Thanks.

I stuck my fingers in enough to get a hold of it and pulled down. Its going to need some force.

Hey thanks for the reply. You mean you stick your fingers between the edge of the console and the headliner? Ouch, sounds like a painful process haha.

Yep. If you removed the rear reading lights, its the same process.

So after failing to remove it, got another question. Do I pull it down from the side that is toward the front of the car or the side that is closest to the back of the car?

Try the side closest to window. It shouldn't matter which side.

No real pictures I removed it to do my home link install just slide your fingers inbetween the plastic and the roof liner towards the front (windshield side) the roof liner will push up a bit so you can get a good grip then just give it a good quick yank instead of steady pressure just rip it down hard and quick like a bandaide. Its just two of the metal pressure clips up front and two plastic clips on the back so it wont break. Like my old high school teacher used to say "Don't be a Pansy!!!"
