on many cars built since about the mid to late 1990's, there isn't any light bulb in the door switch, but rather "fiber optics" which illuminate a given point. as an other example, the ignition switch in our cars. i believe that runs of the courtesy circuit when we open our door.
the wring harness for the power windows, door locks, mirrors, runs from the door jamb then into the door via a rubber boot, which you already know.
i do not believe you did anything wrong, except maybe blow a fuse, so look at all the fuses again, that pertain to the drivers door. if all the other window switches light up, and if it is fiber optics like i said, i think you knocked off something when you removed the door panel.....a fiber optic line is very small in diameter, and clear, so if it is in a crease in the door panel, you will not see this.
so NO FUSE will show bad for that....
you really need to remove that door panel again, and INSPECT inside that area all over again. it is highly possible, that when you removed the door panel, you may have pulled out a plug. it is highly possible that when you removed the old speakers, you pulled out a plug.
here is a "tip"...
put on your "parking lights"
remove the door panel....look for the fiber optic line to "glow"....then locate the hole in where it goes into the door switch.
i along with others here do not believe your door switch went bad...
you either blew a fuse, or disconnected something, in your working to get this job done, and you were not very observant of things...which happens, to anyone.
go back, and do it all over again.
