My 2010 Camry Drivers side power window broken after speaker install

Ok heres my problem this Saturday i installed some Polk DB6501 Component speakers in the front for my 2010 Camry. So after getting the speakers and crossover all installed and putting the door panels back on lo and behold my drivers side power window will not roll neither up or down. The other 3 windows, passenger and both rear windows work fine from the drivers master power window switch. When i ran the wires from the amp to the crossover i tied them in behind the from kick panels because i could not figure out a way to get the wires from the amp through the rubber boot that goes from the door into the interior.

In the evening i noticed that the illumination in the master power window switch for the drivers side was out. All the other 3 buttons were illuminated. So the next day i uninstalled all the speakers looking for anything loose or any wires disconnected or anything else wrong , couldn't find anything .

So my question being would it be worth buying a new master power window switch, I see them on ebay going for around $60, could i have possibly shorted the drivers side switch out when i installed the speakers, like i said all 3 other windows work just fine.

Anybody have any knowledge about the wiring and have any suggestions? I really don't wanna pay the dealer if i can fix this myself.

Thanks for any help.

no, it IS NOT worth buying another switch just yet..it's WORTH your time to remove the door panel and look all over the insides. you may have knocked something off. if the job was as simple as you make it sound, you could not have ruined anything.

Thanks for the response, but like i posted i did take the door panel off , removed the polk speaker and crossover and looked very throughly for any loose wires or connections. I did not find anything loose or any wires damaged.

Im not familiar with the wiring , hopefully someone on here is but what would cause the button to not be illuminated on the driver master power window switch , but the other 3 buttons are illuminated and the other 3 windows roll up and down fine.

If you really have no clue about electrical wiring in a DC circuit then I suggest that you take the car to someone who does. To simply test the switch, it is going to have 3 wires for each window. A ground and 2 positive wires--one for up and one for down. Check that there is voltage at both of them with the ignition turned on. If you have voltage, then jump from the ground to one or the other to make the window go up or down. If this works, then yes, the switch is bad and replace it. Highly unlikely. Each window may be on its own fuse and that you may have blown. More likely. Get a volt meter and learn how to use it. Anyone with average intell can do this in under 5 minutes. Good luck and keep us posted.

on many cars built since about the mid to late 1990's, there isn't any light bulb in the door switch, but rather "fiber optics" which illuminate a given point. as an other example, the ignition switch in our cars. i believe that runs of the courtesy circuit when we open our door.

the wring harness for the power windows, door locks, mirrors, runs from the door jamb then into the door via a rubber boot, which you already know.

i do not believe you did anything wrong, except maybe blow a fuse, so look at all the fuses again, that pertain to the drivers door. if all the other window switches light up, and if it is fiber optics like i said, i think you knocked off something when you removed the door panel.....a fiber optic line is very small in diameter, and clear, so if it is in a crease in the door panel, you will not see this.

so NO FUSE will show bad for that....

you really need to remove that door panel again, and INSPECT inside that area all over again. it is highly possible, that when you removed the door panel, you may have pulled out a plug. it is highly possible that when you removed the old speakers, you pulled out a plug.

here is a "tip"...

put on your "parking lights"

remove the door panel....look for the fiber optic line to "glow"....then locate the hole in where it goes into the door switch.

i along with others here do not believe your door switch went bad...

you either blew a fuse, or disconnected something, in your working to get this job done, and you were not very observant of things...which happens, to anyone.

go back, and do it all over again.
