5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am about to purchase a 2011 camry, auto, le with wheel package
it msrps for around 23,800
I am planning to finance it for o% for 60 + 500 rebate currently offered. ( Should have jumped on when they were offering 0% for 60 + 1000 off but oh wellz)
I have gotten an offer for 20800 + T T L
Do you guys think that i would get a better deal than this?
Any actual dollar figure you get here will be useless to anyone because the price is determined by the local market, the region of the country in which you live, set by the distributor, and how much the dealer has to make in order to keep his doors open. If you live in a city with multiple dealers, you can shop another for the same exact car and get a price, but chances are the pricing will be within a few hundred bucks, and it will have taken you a few hours to negotiate yet another deal, so it isn't worth your time at some point.
In a year, you won't remember exactly how much you paid anyway, and if you like the car you will have gotten a great deal, and if you hate the car you will have gotten a terrible deal, regardless of how much you paid. 3 grand under sticker is reasonable for an end of year deal. You might get a couple hundred more, but you will have to work for it, and you want the dealer to be in business later to take care of you, right?

How much did you guys pay for your Le?
Usually when someone wants to pay less than this, I phone security and let them know we have a theif in the building!
Kidding.
Invoice on that car is about $21,8xx and about $700 in holdback. So...buying it for $20,800.....they are making about $100....
(Remember the $500 rebate goes to them)
The sales person commission is more than $100.
Not a very good deal for the dealer, great deal for you!

Ok here is How i look at this, Dont get me offensive.
with the rebate the price is around 23,300 for the car ( MSRP ) and they are giving me 2500 off according to the the dealer thus not making any money.
I actually got to test drive the 2012 that was in a shop, and the sticker price was the same as 2011, but gets better gas mileage 25/35 with 170 hp, with in-tuned radio which does apps search engines and naviagition standard for all camry. With that being said, this 2011 does not hold that much of a value even though it has 0% for 60 months financing. I don't care how much dealer had to pay for their car, as a consumer i only care the value of it. in 08, i bought an altima for 20k OTD that stickered for 23,500 that dealer also said hes not making any money, but he told me that if he sells certain # of cars they will get big bonus from nissan, so sometimes they will do incredible things to get their goal,
I am just not going to pay 20,800 + TTL for the car that is going to be outdated in a month with less hp , MPG, Value. Camry's resale value is worth a lot less than accord anyways.....
Here is how i look at it.... and the invoice is not the actual dealer is paying for, they still make around 1700 + for the car even if they sell at invoice.

Holdback is only $700 on this car, and you are $600 under invoice. Where do you get the $1700 number??
The mear fact that the new Camry is coming out does not change the cost of the 2011. Your taking advantage of 0% finance that is not available on the 2012. That saves you thousands in interest charges.
Go buy an Accord if you like it better, noone is forcing your hand!
Sheesh!!

Entune is not standard for 2012. The LE has a touch screen in which Entune is available, at a cost of over $1000.
Seems like that stuff interests you...why not just get the 2012?

i think you want something for nothing...i think that you think the dealership ought to give cars away for free and the sales staff work for nothing as well
you cannot compare a Honda to a Toyota, whether it be over all cost, or re-sale value, as each car is DIFFERENT.....!!!
you would be getting a better deal with 0% financing, i know i do..from my 2010..!!
and how many ACTUAL miles per gallon are you thinking YOU will ACTUALLY get..??? remember,, "your actual results may vary"...????
if the 2012 only is "supposed" to get (say) 2 more mpg's....you think that's a reason NOT to buy the 2011..???
dealerships are NOT marking up cars like they once did. that's a FACT. listen the the guy here that's been trying to tell you of this. you live where you live, he lives where he does....think he's trying to sell you a car off his lot..?? he's trying to knock some sense into you.
but then again, you are trying to compare two different manufacturers.....you lost anything you thought you had gained here, when you made that comparison.
The my brothers uncle's sister's cousin's grandfathers son bought one for $XXX is the death of me.
Who knows what the situation was in 2008 for the Altima. For all you know they had $3000 dealer cash rebate that you didnt even know about. Thats why these arguments don't make any sense, you provide some but not all details and just expect everything to fold for you.
If Toyota was OVERLOADED with 2011's then yes, we would see much bigger discounts. Bottom line is it's the BEST selling car in America 12 out of the last 13 years, and for a reason. We don't have a huge supply to "get rid" of, in fact they have pushed up the release of 2012's so we don't run out of Camrys!!
Take a good deal when you see one, and $20,8xx is a great deal.
It will help you understand the mindset of car salespeople and help you get around the financing problems and hidden whatcamacallits.
or
research the cost online, contact the fleet manager to buy the car at lower then msrp, get glares by the salespeople, and be on your merry way with a new car.

Why the heck would you care about what value your car holds when a car is not a investment buddy. stop telling him to get himself into a big mess its not worth buying a 2012 including that its the first year for this gen

Hey, I bought My Barcelona Red 2011 Camry LE with alloy wheels, & Bluetooth/USB feature and 60 months 0% rate no rebate, on July 2011, $23,898 Florida tax tag & registration included. oh I got the Camry set of carpets too. Im loving it so far, will install navigation very soon already added the trunk lip and 6000k xenon fog lights and 5000k low beam. looks Awesome.
i remember buying my 09 silver camry le at freeman toyota here in hurst texas for $21,500 OTD but could of gotten it for $21,000 if the guy didn't convince me to buy it with the alloy wheels. i thought that was a pretty decent deal.
Just this past april 2011, i had to buy my mom a car and i was raped by vandergriff honda for a base white accord OTD price $22,700. It seems nowadays, with shortage of cars due to Japan's tsunami catastrophe, the dealers have an edge over us buyers?
Many of them are using that so they don't have to lower the price. I don't know what to believe but in that accord case, i had no choice but to buy my mom a car because she needed one for work.

I've heard they'll sell LE no alloy $18800. but it was 3-4 month ago.
I got some one at Patt Lobb Toyota.
