Gen6 6th Gen Camry Owners Survey

Alright guys well if your on this thread you probably all know the 6th Gen Camry Model starts from 2007 and ends at 2011. I have a 2011 Toyota Camry SE that I regret buying due to the interior being so freaking cheap. So let me ask you toyotanation members a question.

What Big Or Small Problems Have You Guys Had With Your 6th Gen Camry's Interior?

Anyways let me just start off with my Interior problems and maybe you guys can add in your interior problems or maybe even discuss the same problems we had.

2011 Toyota Camry SE - 1. Trunk makes a loud popping noise when opening and a creaking noise when closing Toyota Said this is normal due to the fact the trunk is a moving part my door is a moving part you dont see that making any noises.

2. Sunglass holder does not sit flush when in closed position Toyota confirmed it does sit a little lob sided but hey it passes their gap specs so its normal.

3. Driver door squeaking when opening. Toyota fixed it by putting some lube on the door seal.

4. Roof inside vehicle was making a popping/creaking noise Toyota had to pull hole headliner down and readjust moonroof rails

5. I know this probably is considered a Exterior part of the car but my window seals on my front driver & passenger side were both sticking out more then they were supposed to. but dealer said the defect was due to me tinting my windows. I showed them about 15 car's on their lot with some windows having the same problem then they overturned their decision to hey maybe its normal. lol they ended up having to fix it since they did actually claim it was defective and that my tint guy messed it up.

6. Rear plastic pillar which covers the SRS Airbag popped off due to the service techs incompetence he thought he could force in the plastic cover by bending some of the clips which caused the headliner to tear apart once those bent clips popped out of place and came in contact with the headliner. Toyota is replacing platic cover with new one. And is going to try to repatch the headliner if not possible. They will be replacing the headliner.

7. A new rattling noise has started to arise in the trunk area

All these problems plus my other problems which havent been mentioned in here equals to DRUM ROLL PLEASE BBBRRRRRRUUUUUUUUMMMMP!!!A LEMON . WA WA WAAAAA Game over theme lol.

Anyways so if anybody wants to add on to here their problems go for it maybe its a problem alot of us have had or maybe it will open some peoples eyes to check if they have these problems. Or maybe future problems to look out for. Im pretty picky so I notice everything lol.

well i am sorry YOU are having problems..

but i bought a new 2010 LE in May of last year, Memorial Day Weekend in fact.

it now has 17,700 miles, and aside from oil and filter changes and tire rotations..??

it has NEVER been in the shop for ANY problem(s) you have with yours....

so, you may just have gotten the runt of the litter...but when things are repaired and everything is as normal as it should be..??

you'll still have a very nice, dependable car.

good luck with yours.

oh don't get me started... I have '07 so it's loads with problems, but none like yours and my problems were major. Which a few of them did get improved and stuff in your '11.

And 17k miles, that is a NEW car. Only 3 oil changes. It's too young to know what a "shop" is. Mine was around 68k, the shop is it's vacation home.

In short, the girl was too high maintenance for me so I broke up with her the last time she broke down on me.

I have a 2011 XLE V6. It's the first new car I've ever bought that I didn't have to bring back to the dealer to fix a defect. After 7K miles the only thing that needs attention is a loose rear view mirror. I've been very happy with my Camry....I can't say the same for the 2009 Honda Accord that I traded in.

2011 SE, 4 cyl. 6350 miles.

Mostly interior rattles, I ignore them by turning up the radio volume

Transmission grinds gears when it's cold-EVERY FREAKING DAY. No known fix, already replaced transmission fluid with Royal Purple.

The only problem I have with my '11 SE is the paint. This car has got to have the softest paint ever, I mean if you look at it wrong you'll scratch it. And mine is white, so when you scratch the bumper it's black underneath... so my front bumper looks beat to hell with all the black spots. Other than that its been great.

I've never had any of those issues. You got a runt of the litter or you need to take care of your car better.

Have a 2009 SE i4 and don't have any of those issues persay.

Something that does happen, however, is during winter if it drops below 0 - -10 for a longer time the sunroof makes a creaking noise randomly, I assume just being so cold. Who knows though. Overall I love the car. No issues.

I have paint problems as well.

Bit of background-my car has less than 6500 miles. I've owned it for a year and a half, and it's garaged all the time. I work at a dealership and have it professionally detailed (3 times so far), as well as washing it at home.

1) Paint problems-paint chips and scratches EVERYWHERE!
2) Corroding rims-they look like they came off of a car that's 7+ years old, they're so bad

I take very good care of my cars, they're like my children. It's just poor quality out of the gate, which is a well known issue.

I've got an '11 XLE 4 banger in black. Only 5000 miles......no issues so far really.....

We have a partiularly noisy 2.5 though, compared to the other new ones I test drive, mine is a tad slower and has more hesitation. No check engine light though, so I haven't bothered to have anyone look at it.

Really the only thing is paint on mine. I've learned to not pay attention to the rattles in the plastic parts. The front bumper clear coat was peeling and had to have it repainted.. they sucked the first time, so it's going in once more.

Gen 6 plastic is crap. My 2000 and 1999 camry interior material is so much better.

I mostly drove Fords prior to getting my '07 SE. It has 82K and aside from the typical maintenance (brakes, oil changes, etc.) the only problem I've had is a bad coil pack, which was covered by the certified pre-owned warranty.

It has its creaks and quirks but I'm extremely satisfied. I plan on driving it into the ground.
