anyone know where i can get the front glass (the big one) for? the freaking chip turned into a 10inch line now. i didn't notice it until the next morning which was too late and the chip was at the bottom of the front glass.
how much is it roughly? or should i just go to the dealership and pay an arm?
also, do the 09 camry come in heat strips for front mirrors like the back? i noticed some lines up top or is it for looks?
hey go to a glass shop...some cracks can be repaired, at NO COST to you...!! they bill your insurance company...in fact, call your insurance company and they tell you what shop to go to..!!!
if you are a member of the AAA, in some states they have a glass shop...
or you can try Safelite.....

At 10" it may not be repairable. Here in Utah, anything over about the length of a dollar bill isn't repairable, nor will it pass Safety.
My 2007 out of pocket cost $170 through Technaglass.
Of course, in all of this I'm assuming that by "front glass" you mean windshield....

yeah took it to this glass place to see and that's exactly what they said, if its within a dollar length then it's repairable, longer than that, then it'll need to be replaced. yeah the big front windshield where you face to drive, don't know the technically term for it.
do you guys know if our camries take special front windshield, again i see some heat strips like the back windshield?
it should just be a camry windshield...you may be asked if you want a tinted one, but do not expect the tint to be too much.
those "strips" you speak of, i have not seen them. in either the front windshield or the mirrors.......
in my back window, i have the defogger lines (heat strips) and the am/fm radio antenna.
check on prices. and a warranty on the job. usually the warranty covers the installation of the gasket and seal against leaks. the windshield "may be" warrantied for manufacturers defects only, not future breakage.
and by the way, all those tiny dots on the top of the windshield where your mirror is, are sometimes called a "diffuser" which helps cut some of the sun from coming into the car...were those what you were asking about..???
okey dokey, so if i buy an AEM glass, they probably wont' have that then, but yeah thats exactly what i was asking. hey man thanks for your input, i really appreciate the help.
my dad used safelite last time his windshield broke and it was probably the best windshield replacement he ever had; friendly people, know what they are doing, etc. and they come to your house or office
i asked the guy about how long it takes for our cars (i have a gen5 it might be different) and he said about 30 mins.
good luck!

so your saying safelite can repair that long crack and do they warranty that it won't come back? geez, i jumped the gun, i thought you meant fix the crack, so glass replacement. i'll look into it.
Their techs are professional and seem to know what they are doing. However, if you don't specify OEM (United, PPG, Asahi) then you may get XYG glass. IMO it's not a good glass.
I'd ask for a quote from Safelite on OEM glass just for comparison, then call up the local PGW installer and get another quote. Also check with your insurance company to see if they cover the repair free of charge.

it seems as though every year or so, these glass repair companies are able to repair longer and longer cracks. the real trick though, is to get the damage done right away, not wait for it to get worse...which may then leads to total replacement.
safelite warranties thier work as well. when the guy came to my house, it had to be a sunny day, as i have no garage. they cannot work in the rain, at least not my particular situation as there was no way he could get any covering over my car had it rained that day.
so yeah, go to thier shop, or call your insurance company first as i suggested earlier. the LONGER you wait, the WORSE that crack will get, then YOU WILL HAVE to replace that windshield.
i would think that safelite would have the exact style glass you have now. so you should be good to go, if replacement is necessary.
There has been a couple of suggestions to call your insurance agent. I will also recommend that. If you have comprehensive coverage, it should cover either the crack repair (if it can be done) or total windshield replacement. CALL YOUR INSURANCE AGENT!!!!!
As far as I know, Safelite puts in PGW if you dont specify what you want. At least that's what they put in for 2 windshields on my dad's PT Cruiser and 1 on his Caliber. I've never had mine replaced (knock on wood that I won't have to ) but I assume it would be the same for us Toyota owners.

Pittsburgh Glass Works is OEM and good quality glass as well. But it helps if Safelite can confirm that before the work. Camrys are popular (=more aftermarket brands) so there is a good chance of getting some off brand glass.
