Gen6 older style keyless remote on 6th gen?

Can you use the older 4 button or 3+1 style keyless remotes on a 6th gen? I'm not a huge fan of the integrated key (or the price for replacements). The 4 buttons are where it's lock unlock at the top and trunk panic at the bottom, the 3+1 has lock/unlock/trunk in a row on the top of the remote and a panic button recessed into the bottom. I already have a standard 4D PATS key coming and I'd like to put this overpriced key/remote combo in a drawer.

For that buy an alarm and have those options programmed to the alarm. I had a viper that would roll down windows open trunk and lock and unlock... No panic button but that's what the glock is for.

Turns out the cheapest solution for now was to buy a used key which I will hack the "key" part off of and just keep the remote part (paid 18 bucks for a used key).
