Installed new low beams and lost my fogs?

Well not completely...

I replaced my low beams with Sylvania Ultra's 4100k. Before the replacements went in my factory fogs would come on with the DRL's or low beams.

After the replacement my fogs will only come on with the low beams.

Do I need to replace the fogs with the same Sylvanias?

BTW I pulled out the oem Phillips.

I don't see why a bulb change would cause others to fail...I believe these are on separate fuses. Check the foglight fuse.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's a fuse because my fogs still come on with the low beams, just not with my parking and DRL's.

Good thought. I made sure that they were switched on.

I may have a long Saturday ahead of me.

What year is your car and trim level?
Are the fog lights stock or aftermarket?

As far as I know, the foglights are only supposed to come on with the low beams anyway (factory fogs). My 2011 SE fogs won't come on with DRL or parking lights, and neither will any other 2010-2012 Toyota with factory fogs sitting around the dealership.

The fog relay works as an "AND" circuit. Two criteria must be met before the relay will activate to turn on the fog lights.

1) The tail lights must be on.
And
2) Only the low beam headlight must be on.

If either is missing (1) or (2), the fog lights will be off.

Thanks Luna. She's not even a month old to me so I must've been mistaken.

There are several tricks you can use to achieve the effects you want. The current 12v supply to the coil is from the tail light circuit, which only allows the fog lights to be activate with the low beam bulbs.

You could move the source 12v to the coil, to an accessory circuit that would apply the 12v to the relay coil, any time the engine is running (the light switch must still be in auto/low beam). The result should be DRL and fog during the day, normal operation after dark.

The simplest way to achieve Fogs all of the time is to go after market and connect it the way you want.

There are several in-depth threads on this topic for the gen6.... please, search.
