hi just received my first car today, toyota camry 2008 ateva model very happy with the car but i was suprised it doesent have an aux connection or even aux in the mode is this normal?

If it is a 2008, it has an AUX. Look in the console under the A/C controls.

EDIT: I just saw you said something about ateva model. Not sure about that.

I think Ateva is a grade like CE, LE, SE, XLE. I don't know what Ateva is equivalent to though.

Even here in the US the base model has an AUX input. Not sure how Australian Camrys are built but if they're anything similar to US models then you should have one in the aforementioned place.

even if your camry doesn't have AUX, you can get aftermarket adapter/converter off ebay for around $100. it will have USB, Ipod and some other connections.
it plugs into CD changed plug on OEM unit.

It may not- it looks like the ashtray setup didn't leave room for the storage bin, and thus may not have an aux input unless they stuffed them somewhere else.
