08 Toyota Camry + Alpine 9887 = Issues

Alright Everyone

So I recently installed a 9887 in a 2008 Toyota Camry. Install went smoothly everything sounds great. However the AC control unit under the radio assembly itself is having some issues.

Once I plug the AC unit in, it works fine as far as the controls. But the knobs themselves don’t illuminate anymore. Nor does the little bulb that lights up the shifter lettering. I don’t understand how this even happens. When I plug the pins in half way they illuminate but when I fully plug it and hear the click they don’t illuminate anymore.

Also, I have my Camry harness orange and white and orange and black connected to the orange wire on the alpine harness. Any input on what may be going on here? Is this a fuse issue, I just don't understand it.

Thanks in advance everyone.

The OEM radio has a "source" [GREEN WIRE] and a "sink" [WHITE WITH BLACK STRIPE] wire that controls the lighting on the face. Your new head unit may be causing the issue. Unplug the new unit, check your fuses, then test your lighting on the HVAC controls for proper operation.

Caution: Do not directly connect the lightning source the the sink line, you may damage the body ECU...

The solid orange wire should be the +12v to the antenna amplifier for the AM/FM. I am still looking for what the orange with black tracer and the orange with white tracer should be in the Camry. In your case you should only connect the green wire to the Alpine's orange wire.

I could not find any evidence of the Orange with White stripe or Orange with Black stripe connected to the Camry radio (all versions) in any of my prints.

Thank you Luna!

I took the whole Alpine out. Now i am back to all stock. However the stock radio now works but it is noght lighting up. Same issue that whole stock center panel down to the letter on the shift knob are noght lighting up. Do you know what fuse i should be looking at. i checked all the radio fuses they look fine. Is that section called the HVAC section?

The fuse is listed as a 7.5 amp panel.

Heat Ventilation Air Conditioning, there are several names such as comfort controls, A/C amplifier, A/C control assembly.

I didnt check the HVAC fuse. Will that fuse keep the whole panel and shifter knob from lighting up too?

This is for the dash lamps and is listed as Panel on the fuse panel under the dash.
