driver's seat bottom removal

I sat down with a screw driver in my back pocket and tore the seat bottom. I've been told I can just remove the bottom cushion and cover by just snipping the hog clamps...anyone have experience with this? I've found an upholsterer, but he wants the cushion out.
Solara .07 SLE convertible
Thanx

I'd like to know how to remove the seat cover too. Mine is a 2002 Camry XLE.

Does the seat have any air bag stuff I need to be careful about?

my manual suggests a seat disconnect within 90 sec of removing the neg cable of the battery because the airbag system has a backup power source...
