Installed K&n Typhoon 69-10ttk & Now 1st. Cyl. Misfire

I installed the K&N Typhoon Air Intake System on my Camry and now get a check engine light. My car is missing on the number 1 cylinder according to the AUTOZONE scanner. Before I take it to the dealership I already put the factory box back on and tried leaving the battery unhooked but still missing and gettinng the check engine light. At a stand still the car jumps and drives fine but sometimes the check engine light flashes before the number 1 cylinder shuts down and I lose power. I can restart the car and the computer resets till 5 - 10 minutes later and shuts back down. Just trying to get some perspective before the dealership blames everything on the aftermarket intake.

Thanks

No issues. If any problems I expected would of been a possible vacuum leak.

Probably just a coincidence. These coils go bad with no warning whatsoever. I had one go bad on my V6 a few weeks ago. Got a check engine light on the way home from work. Since I have a Scangage II, I pulled over and checked the code. Had a P0352 but I felt no miss. Erased the code and it was back on within 2 miles and the car started to noticeably miss by the time I got home. Luckily it was on the front bank so it took me all of 5 minutes to replace. If you have a coil code, I doubt it was the air intake that caused it. If it was a multiple misfire code or a lean code then it would be the intake.

i'd clean off the maf sensor and try driving the car for a few days

the check engine light will go away after you start the car 5 times, THEN go to the dealership if it didn't work

Exactly what this guy said. Besides the obvious of course (making sure all vacuum lines are connected properly, followed instructions, etc).

Went to AUTOZONE and they pulled a code that said misfire in cylinder #1. I put the factory air box back on & took it to the dealership. They said the spark plug appeared to have been dropped or had water in the cylinder. The spark plug has never been removed. Thinking the spark plug may have had a bad gap from the factory & this new intake was the straw that broke the camels back??? I know dealerships have to make $ but their explanation just doesn't make any sense to me.
