I have couple of questions / problems about my 2010 camry LE.. it has 34000 miles...
1st problem is my tires are dead too soon.. front tires had very little tread left when I had 20k miles.. I switched them with rear ones.. ( rear ones looked like new at 20k miles ) and now car has 34 miles and no tread left on the rear, maybe 2/32 or 4/32... front ones have like 10/32
so based on my experience...the lifespan of these bridgestone turanza el400-02 like 20-25k miles..
the tread rating is 260... is this wear normal ?
2nd problem is my front brake discs went bad around 20k miles... when I brake in the highway around 70-80mph.. the steering wheel shakes a lot....
does this covered under warranty ? do any of you have/had similar problem ?
I am in the same boat you are in. I have a 2011 Camry with 28000mi and my oem tires are the same bridgestone turanza and they are almost bald. I think the oem tires are just cheap tires. I am looking into the Advantage T/A from BFGoodrich with a 95V rating. I have read alot of reviews of the tire and they are all good. Plus they are cheaper than all other brands. I figure since maybe later I will upgrade to better rims and tires the BF's will last me until then and at $450 a set are alot cheaper than all others starting at $600+ a set.
My brakes are good so far (fingers crossed), but I would not think the brake pads would fall under warranty. Plus if it is shaking with braking I would say that is a rotor and not the pads. Not sure it a rotor is a warranty item, but I would think it is a wear item. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I would just replace that myself, they are not that expensive and if needed you could do one wheel at a time with a simple floor jack. Get a Haynes manual or google it replacing a rotor or pads is pretty standard across many cars. You would pay alot at a shop for about 30min MAX per wheel of your own time with a few simple tools.
Here is a link for brake pads on a Gen 3 should be about same for Gen 6. I am not at this point yet so I am not positive. Could follow this to a point for rotors to with a little additional info. Belive me I thought rotor an pad changing would be a pita until I did it on my trailblazer it is alot easier than it looks. DIY: Brake Pad Change (56k, grab a Snickers)
I have been thru 3 camry's so far. Bridgestone turanza are junk tires. I realize this after first car. I change my tires at 22000 due to noise. I called toyota Corp and they even cant help me. call dealer and they say thats about right miles for that tires. ABout the brakes my first camry 08 has the same issue. Its your rotors that are not even any more. Yes its under warranty if you are under 36K. The dealer will say oh its because your rotors were over heated.
Or the service department used an impact wrench on the lug nuts and warped the rotors. Proper torque for the 07 - 12 is 76 ft. lb. My original sellers service department did that, rotated the tires at every 5k.
I localize the cause of my problem on the 07 I had, by having the rotors turned, waiting two rotations that were done at another service department, then went back to the original dealer. The rotor were showing signs of warping again in less than 5k miles.... Enough evidence for me.... Don't go there.... EVER...
I now travel 70+ miles to get the correct service, it's worth it...

Bridgestone OEM's are junk. I have 6500 miles on my car and 2 tires are half worn already. On average, we see cars come into the dealership with 15-20k miles with bald tires. They're wearing out so fast that Toyota is paying for new tires most of the time now. If I weren't doing an engine swap in the Mustang I would have gotten rid of these tires ages ago....

what you mean by " toyota is paying for new tires " ?
Came with Michelin Energy tires and still have about 1/8" tread left on the valleys on the outer edge (don't know the proper name but the grooves closest to the sidewalls).
Suffice to say, I have been very happy with the treadwear on these.
My "07 had same problems with brakes, but I was out of Warranty. Rotors kept warping, finally replaced rotors and pads. Sounds like from the TSB the pads were over heating the rotors. My Bridgestone tires lasted about 31K. I rotated every 5K. Replaced with Michelins. In future I check out the OEM tires on the car I buy to check the tread wear #.
I'll go to the nearest dealer and have them fix it under the warranty...thank god I only have 34k miles...
for the record, my 2010 came with Michelin's and i only have 18,500 so far, i still have the little "nubs" on the sidewalls...
when a car maker puts tires on a car on the assembly line, sure it may be Bridgestones, GoodYear, Firestone, Michelin, but they WILL NEVER BE the ones that you buy at the stores..these ARE ALL a lesser grade/price as they tires are bought in bulk, and out on a bid system, so not all Camry's will be built and equipped with the same brand from year to year, or even mid-year, changes will be made per pricing.
FYI, if you go on Tire Rack, you can purchase the same OEM tires your car came with. They're grossly expensive, however. Michelin's have always done well on the Camry, they wear nicely.

when i bought my '08 SE earlier in the month it had the Turanza's on it, needless to say they were pretty bald at 29k miles. I insisted on new tires put on before i purchased thanks to obviously checking the wear and from researching on this forum. Thx all received new tires
Just that, Toyota is paying for new tires, because they wear out too fast.
u sure about that? I called 2 dealers today about that TSB for the rotors.. they ask the mileage and say oh well its normal wear etc... one dealer said he needs to check with the service manager..
it looks they'll do everything they could NOT to fix the rotors under warranty... EVEN there is a TSB about it...
so how do you think I can make the dealer put new tires free ?
