Gen5 About Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs

Hi,
I am refreshing front suspension. I decided to replace front upper strut bearings. It turns out I don't need to compress the spring to put strut together. I have Eibach ProKit lowering springs and KYB GR2 strut both from TireRack. Is this normal? I have 2002 XLE 4 cylinder. In fact, when strut is installed on car, with no load on wheels (car is jacked up) I can easily move the springs with my hand.
Frank from Pittsburgh, PA.

Hmmm...

I know when I had my Eibach pro-kit, the spring didn't need to be compressed to be taken out. I had to compress the OEM spring, but not the Eibach..

Just unbolt the top bolt facing away from you, they shouldn't be under pressure.

Thanks for responding BlackG5. I did just as you said and unbolted both struts without a spring compressor. No problem. Worked like a charm. I was a bit hesitant about keeping these springs on car since the spring really only touches the bottom part of the strut by the tip of the spring. Once loaded I'm sure it is fine though.
I was worried I had the wrong springs since I didn't need to compress them to take them out (or put them in). Since the same thing occurred with you, I guess they are the right springs.
Thanks,
Frank
.....btw, your sig says Nova. Are you from Nova Scotia?
