5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So im going to be shopping this week for new tires so i decided to get everything done at one time. wondering if anyone can help me with finding the best item.
New Set of tires. im gonna be running 17in stock rims but would really like something wider than the 215s more like 225 or 235 better as long as it doesnt affect the feel and drive of the car.
New muffler. been looking into prototype v3 or anything with great sound. especially when idling
Better Handling. i dont know how to do this. but i would love to give my car some better handling.
new tailights. i think i have an idea for this.
new spoiler.
Full LED Conversion inside and outside the car
need a VVT-i Badge for my recently removed SE badge
the only thing im willing to wait on is the remote starter. its not so cold yet in NYC

225 would be wider i think 235 might be to wide but not sure.
I have 215/50/17 on now and getting 225/45/17 put on tmr. i think 215/55/17 is way to much tire but u will lose comfort the lowr u go on profile but i like the look. makes it look like a real sports sedan. im also on TRD Springs and love the handling upgrade and look. gives the car a way better look!!
Tires i'd do 225/45/17 Since you're on stock rims.
Handling, get the 23mm Ultra Racing rear swaybar. H&R springs are a good choice, a moderate drop,
Exhaust, I have a full magnaflow catback with resonator delete, sounds awesome. But that is all personal preference.
All very good suggestions there. Also, everyone seems to speak highly of the magnaflow exhaust, and I have to be honest after some research t does look and sound better than the TRD or Borla setup. But the only thing holding me back is the required "custom" installation. I dont have a local muffler show that would be able to do this for me. Any suggestions? How much custom work needs to be done to get a good fit?
1) H&R springs
2) Ultra racing 23mm sway bar,
3) Ultra racing front strut bar (if you want; i think the first two is all you need)
Performance:
1) Fujita intake
2) Prototype v3 exhaust (i have the v2 on my car, only difference is muffler tips). Its a very good sounding exhaust. Really gives your Camry an aggressive tone
Lighting:
1) Full interior conversion
2) LED footwell lighting
3) LED exterior conversion
4) HIDs in headlights and fogs
I think that would be a good start. I have everything on that list but the sway bar. I'll be getting it for christmas. I love the way my Camry sounds and looks esp at nigh with the LEDs. I get all kind of compliments. I went a lil overboard. I put led strips in front and rear footwells, 4 led strips in the trunk, led strips in the front door pockets.
^ the intake is a waste of money and adds Zero performance. All it is good for is sound. That sound places it in your mind that you have more HP and better performance. Your stock airbox with a K&N or TRD drop in is just as good if not better than an intake. Mind over matter.
Until you get into a real sports car with real power then it has benefits.

I had mine done at a custom shop. it really can be a direct fit if you know how to weld. Just remove the cat, install the new highflow cat. Take out the resonator and replace it with straight pipe and cut the muffler off and weld the new one on.
I have 2.5" piping all the way back so it needed new bends etc.
agreed on the intake but exhaust isnt goin to give you any performance benefits either, not on these cars. i put intake on there b/c if you're gettin exhaust for sound you might as well get the intake for the same reason

Two wrongs don't make a right. LOL. Why spend money on an intake if you already have an exhaust that does the same thing? Use that money from the intake and get a drop-in and use the remaining for something else.
^lol...i like the sound of an intake compared to a drop in...so if i was going to spend the money on exhaust to sound better i was going to buy an intake for the same reason

The sound from your exhaust will just drown out the sound from the intake.
Performance Mods on a Camry r a waste of money but that's not why we get them. Buying LEDs, retrofitting, TRD rims, stickers are all a waste. So don't go by what other ppl tell u. You do get performance increase/better MPG with a Cold air intake but is it really noticeable and worth the money. No, but that's not why ppl get them. Just as u get Rims and other things that waste u do it for look, sound, etc. Which what an exhaust and air intake is. So no I don't think its a waste of my just an opinion on would u spend the money on it.
