questions for GEN 6 owners with sunroof

Hi guys,

I just brought my car to the dealer today for this problem..but apparently it is normal.

Whenever it rains or I wash my car, towards the rear of the sunroof by the rubber strip, I see there are droplets of water hanging from the rubber area...these aren't just a couple..but quite a lot and there's a lot of it as it rains harder.

i thought my weatherstrip was gone and needed to get it replaced, but dealer said this is normal. The advisor said the water falls in the "tray" and the water goes through the A-pillar that has 2 tubes that releases the water out through the bottom of the fender. He also said this tray is there for people in case they tilt up their sunroof and forget to close it and it rains.

is this true or is it BS? my main concern is to prevent any rusting. Thanks!

No, he's pretty much right, that's how the water is routed out.

Now, as for rusting, you shouldn't really need to worry about that. For the first year I had my car it sat outside in every kind of weather, and went through a hundred car washes....no rust, and I don't anticipate any, to be honest. My husband's 2000 Maxima has a sunroof and none of the parts have begun to rust, either.
