Adding an aftermarket Moonroof to my 2002 Camry LE V6

Anyone in the Toronto or GTA area add an aftermarket moonroof to their 2002 Gen 5 Camry? How is the warranty, fit and finish of doing this and what does this cost?

I regret not getting a moonroof in my car but in 2002, they did not have the option of moonroof without going to the XLE. Now they have the option for it.

DONT DO IT

I've never seen a good aftermarket sunroof. There is no way to make one that is nice as a factory. For one, on Toyotas with factory sunroofs they have drain hoses that run water away from the sunroof, the seal doesn't actually keep all water out. It drains into the drain hoses and out the bottom of the car. An aftermarket sunroof doesn't have this and must seal totally shut or it will leak. And leak most of them do after a while.

If you really want it, go ahead. But I would rather do without.

I would never put in an aftermarket sunroof after all the problems I have seen with them. I am sure there are good ones out there but I have not found any. Toyotanut3717 got that one right.

Nothing like a leak to really ruin your day. Funky smell, discolored upholstery, rust and lowered value on your ride. Factory or nothing.

Most Toyota dealers have a company they refer customers to that want to put in sunroofs on cars that weren't factory equipped, and they include it in your car's warranty (as long as you get it when you get the car). Visit one of the dealers and see who they refer you to.

I heard very bad things of aftermarket sunroofs, just create one urself

1) Get a saw
2) Cut a square/rectanglar shape in the roof.
3) Tape some glass.
4) Cry.

Thats what they say so that they can get rid of ya!
Once you get something installed from the company, and if you have a problem with the product, everyone in toyota will avoid you like the plague!

My dad's camry got installed with aftermarket power locks
When it had problems, the sales guys denied they refered anything to anyone

Car Dealerships are still snake oil.

I know of Honda and Toyota dealerships that will transorm Camry and Accord fabric into leather and sell it as standard. I was surprised. These were not OEM skins, pretty lame quality actually in comparison. Saw a dealer prep a camry for sunroof mod, he brought it up the street, they measured and chisiled a square piece off. Then mounted the glass frame, hooked electrics. $600 boro,Aslong as it is not me. I want the fabrics they pull for my car seat.I like stock car seats, So they store or ebay them.

Anyways, the dealer did it,not Toyoya. If toyota really did this, i would ask where the warranty is for.toyota will say no, so dealer has to carry. I know dealers. Dealers warranty is blaming you,how you abused the roof so it leaked. Since you signed. its for you....

Happen to me all the time.Sometime not so obvious, sometimes criminal. But all the car dealers are probably independant contractors so there is no one to hit hard.

Hey, you got your money, their job is to seperate you from it.
Ever see them congratulaing each other, listen to what they say.

My ex sold Toyota, used to sometimes go and see her at work. She can't programme a VCR but she look cute enough to seperate man from his wallet. Bunch of guy out there driving her sales. She drives a Volvo S40.

Only hints that worked, is pic your car,put the add ons, then work the deal, Within three dealerships you'll get one. Trade ins are bonus for them. No biggie.

Way back when, my partners bought cars, nice cars. They bring them back and we dress them up and out they go again. Wide Margain. Did things like tear a great stereo out of one car to install in another to boost its image. Wheels and stereos always.

^^funny thing is, when my mom's 03 corolla's roof leaked, since it was included in her invoice for the custom install, the dealer paid for the repair, and gave her a loaner.

why can't you just locate a car that came with a sunroof and install it on your car just cut the roof out of the donor car and make sure to get everything. that doesn't seem as bad as getting the universal one

do what B Deuce said. I wanted to get one installed also, and the dealer around my house referred me to factory where they get their cars done. Said that I could probably make an appoinment and bring the car in and the moonroof should be done in like 1 1/2-2 hours. Cost around $1000, but i didn't do it cause i had no money

But definately check your local Toyota dealer and find out and get done professionaly
