Gen6 Brake Pads

It's that time to go ahead and replace my rotors & pads on a 07 Camry SE 70K. My mechanic is wanting to put on Semi Posi Mettallic pads on. a few of my buddies told me to go with ceramics. The semi posi are a little cheaper. How do they wear over time is the question I'm asking. I do alot of city driving. If I'm going to be dropping some cash, I least want to be knowledgeable on what is going on my car and not have my Mechanic put brake pads on that he feels like because he might get a deal on them.

I'm calling out to the nation to help me out.

go with ceramic.... its OEM on the car and will last the longest and give the best performance and be easiest on your new rotors

as far as brand i would HIGHLY recommend akebono.... they make OEM pads on many different brands of cars and are made beautifully.... i put akebonos + centric rotors all around last march (over 12k miles since) and the pads have barely worn at all

+1 on the Centric rotors. I have Power Slot rotors on mine (which are made by Centric) and they're great. As for pads I have Hawk PC (Ceramic) pads. They have great bite and so fare I haven't noticed any brake fade. I have around 20K on this setup and my pads aren't worn much, but of course most of the pad loss is from the slots in the rotors.

Wagner thermoquiet -best pads you can find.great stopping, low dust, long lasting.
they might be little pricey,60- $65, but they sure worth it.
OEM pads are cheap aftermarket stuff vs thermoquiet.
I would go with Wagner rotors too. If not, get NAPA Platinum rotors.
don't remember if NAPA got store sin RI (used to live in Cranston) .
My OEM rotors were wrapped by 60K.
45K on Wagner rotors and they still look like new. pads are about 60% gone.

I got EBC drilled/slotted rotors and pads for about $500 total. After letting the pads set in, I hammered down and thought I was gonna go through the windshield it gripped so hard. Check them out too. They have different grades of pad as well.
