Nums Update Thread

Been wanting to start one of these for quite a while, so here it goes.

Also, I'm trying to go for a black and red theme.

It is a 2003 XLE Black.

Done so far

Interior
  • Pioneer AVH-3300BT Deck
  • Changed out all lights on HVAC from Green to Red
  • Converted Dome light to red LED
  • Converted Vanity and Map lights to white LEDs
  • Remote Starter
  • Damplifier on all 4 doors and trunk
Exterior
  • 35% Tint all around
  • Spyder Halo Projector lights (modified for gen 5)
  • License plate LED conversion
  • Debadged
  • 6K HID for Low-Beams inside Projector lens
  • 6K LED fog lights and Backup Lights

Future

Interior
  • Footwell Red cold cathodes wired into Dome light mod
  • Sub, amps, component speakers
  • Speedometer conversion from white to red
  • Figure out a way to convert Info bar (clock, avg mpg etc..) from Green to Red
  • 3rd Brake light overlay
  • Paint Steering wheel emblem and door handles to a chrome red?

Exterior
  • Tint tail lights (need new right housing first due to spider crack)
  • Rims of course
  • Fix scratches
  • Possibly looking at Vizage body kit
  • Paint brake calipers red (real original I know)

Pictures soon to come, but if anyone that has followed my threads before know not to be too anxious for them. I'm a horrible photographer with equipment that barely passes as a camera

Edit: Pictures!

How did you get the license plate lights swapped? I'm getting a spoiler soon and I thought it was accessed from the inside of the trunk. Am I right? Thanks in advance! I've seen some pics of you car on that creative ideas thread and it looks good! Keep going and try to get pics with that sad excuse for a camera lol

The license plates are actually a bit of a pain to get to. You have to pull the release handle off. Then get a screw driver, do about a 1/4 counterclockwise turn on the black push-pins that hold the cover on the trunk. The middle piece should pop out slightly, use your nails or a flat head screwdriver and pull on that middle piece to get the push-pin out. Once you get the cover off the license plate lights are easy to get at. I believe it is a 1/4 counterclockwise turn to release them then replace the lights. I forget the bulb size, but it is listed on the Master List of LEDs Bulb Sizes & DIY/Tutorials for Interior/Exterior Lights. Actually I just looked and it lists the license plate bulbs as being 194 wedge bulbs. I bought mine of v-leds.com

tl;dr Yes it's accessed from inside the trunk lol

Depends on what HVAC model you have. If you have the same one as me I'll probably be doing a write-up on how to do it pretty soon here. Otherwise the other model has a DYI already. DIY: Gen 5 [2002-2006] Climate Control Bulbs

Edit: Some pictures are up!

Thanks! I managed to get a hold of my cousin's camera for the day and snap some pictures otherwise I'm limited to my phone camera as well.

Also, would anyone know where I could get my hands on some Metallic Red spray paint? I'm thinking about making all of the chrome accents on the car that color.

Didn't QUITE work out like I had planned, but it does look pretty good as it is right now.

Link to album, didn't really want to link 37 photos to this one post lol. The guy in the pics in my buddy giving me a hand.

http://imageshack.us/g/851/img4439q.jpg/

Also, since neither one of us are very experienced with painting it ended up taking us about 13 hours over two days to do all of this.

I'll post some of the highlights here though.

Side trim pieces still need to be repainted. I also want to paint the chrome slits on the grille.

I don't have a picture of it yet, but we painted the rear emblem as well. Eventually going to do some tail light tinting too, but I still need to get a new right tail light to repair the spider crack
