Gen5 Help on Camry 2002 XLE 4Cyl. 2.4

When I switch ignition key on, there are no ABS and Brake light come on. Why is that happening? How to fix it? Normally, when we switch ignition key on, what are indicator light on?

the bulbs could be burnt out..... im not sure if on the older gen 5 if it uses LED or a mini bulb to light up the warning indicators.... you can remove the cluster and see if there are little black sockets along the bottom.... if there are, remove (twist) and replace bulb; if there are no sockets then it uses LED and the whole thing will have to be taken apart and new LED chips soldered into place

far as the start up warning lights:
maint reqd, oil, check engine, abs, brake, airbag, battery, seat belt, and if u have it vsc, trac off, and skid

Thank so much for your help, fatngs. May I ask is it ok to drive while overdrive is on? Using overdrive use fuel consumption?

u definately want to keep overdrive on..... the car uses much more fuel if ur say doing 60 and u have it off ur RPM would be sitting at over 3,000 rather than 2,000

Well if you have brakes,it is ok to drive the car. You can test to see if the ABS is working by finding a deserted street or parking lot and make an emergency stop from 20 or 25 mph. You can hear the ABS system running and feel the feedback through the brake pedal.I think "overdrive" is just 4th or 5th gear, depending on what AT you have. Overdrive means that the gear ratio is less than one to one and the engine turns slower, thus reducing fuel consumption. It's a trade off between power and fuel consumption. I'm guessing that both 4th and 5th gears in the Toyota 5 speed AT are overdrive gears. I have had several Hondas with 5 speed manuals where both fourth and fifth were overdrive gears.Rowed those Hondas up every pass in Colorado for so many years I went to the V6 with AT.Regards

Thanks, guy. You guys are great. I have doubt that is Overdrive activated when we push the button and see O/D OFF on the cluster, right?
