5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I'm trying to install an after market radio(Nuevo ND 1736) in my 2009 toyota camrySE,the radio doesn't match the factory harness.I have a wiring diagram for the audio, the car comes with jbl amp,can I connect the headunit to the amp or do i need a special harness
I would check cruthfields or somewhere to see what they recommend. They have great customer service and if it needs a harness they could tell you. I do know that factory amps and head units have odd voltage in and out, that is to say not your typical 2 or 4 volt pre out an aftermarket usually has. I can't tell you what stock is but I wouldn't want to put too much to the factory amp if it isn't designed for it.
O so you are saying the factory amp take a high level input from the stock unit? I would just run new wiring to your speakers and bypass it altogether, unless it is a premium system and you want to keep the amp in the system.

The JBL amplifier is a low level input, 10,000 Ohms impedance. You will need a speaker to "line level" adapter to reduce the aftermarket speaker drive levels to the proper line levels so you do not overload the input to the JBL amplifier. The documentation I have, doesn't specify what that line level input is to the JBL amplifier.

Is there a special harness to connect this radio to the factory harness, I'd like to keep the factory audio setup.I've searched youtube and found the radio working but luck on finding how they connected the radio...thx for all the replys
The remote wire(dark blue) from the headunit;where does it get connected on the amp(which color wire)
If you are indicating the blue wire from the replacement head unit, it should go to the orange antenna amplifier wire for power when the radio is turned on.
The JBL amplifier is always on with the ignition switch. The power activate amplifier wire is grey and is fused through the radio 2 fuse at 7.5 amps.
PM me with an email address and I will send you a wire list.
