5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I read through some Fog Light install threads here and got the info I needed to install from aftermarket fogs on my 2007 Camry CE. One thing that I can't find an answer for though, is what these are in the picture? They were apparently sitting on the plastic bottom-panel when I removed it, and fell on the ground. I have no idea where they came from under the hood, do you?
Also, does anyone know where I can get a fog switch that fits in the rectangular, plugged hole to the left of the steering column? The one they included in the kit is too big and cheap quality. What goes into that hole normally anyway?
The plugged hole to the left of my steering column is the on/off switch for the traction control and VSC. I don't think they had the option to turn it off back in 2007.

Yeah, it wasn't standard in '07, that plug was used for that and the factory installed alarm system with glass break sensor. Those plugs don't appear to be anything factory though.

They appear to be the headlamp vent covers. They really aren't needed....so no need to worry about them.
As for the switch? Sorry can't help you.
Thanks! Headlamp vents? What'll they think of next? :-)
And thanks guys for the info on the plug for the traction control and/or alarm system. I wish there was a foglight switch you could fit in there... but I have no idea where to get it.
Can you post up pictures of the plug you have? I actually purchased one for the 07-09 prior to getting the 10-11 model switch. I found the 07-09 too big for the 10-11 so if it is different from the one you have we can work something out

Yup, those are the headlight vent caps. They keep dirt and debris out of the headlights while still allowing them to vent to avoid fogging up.

OK, I looked everywhere around the headlight housings and I could not find anywhere that a cap like this would fit. Do you know of a picture or a diagram of the headlights that would show where they go please?
On a related note, is there any way to open up the housing to clean the film off the projector lens and the inside of the clear headlight housing?

Here's a link to the guy I bought the kit from (great price - $41.83 shipped). It has pics of the switch. The switch was too big to fit into the hole in my Camry though, so if yours was too big, it probably wouldn't fit mine either.

The vents are located on the back of the housing. Really though...it's nothing to worry about. The vents have a small foam filter that keeps dust and debri out, while letting moisture out. The caps aren't needed.

The item on eBay I bought was called "07-09 TOYOTA CAMRY FOG LIGHTS w/SWITCH+BRACKET+HARNESS"

Dang, same switch I got with my 07-09 kit. I'd suggest buying the one for the 10-11 for a guaranteed fit but that is a waste of funds. My suggestion is to take a sharp knife and make it big enough for it to fit if you wish

OK thanks for the pic. I saw that spot and tried to push the cap on it, but it won't go... oh well, I guess I won't worry about it. Can take apart the unit to clean the inside of it though?

Yeah, and it's a cheap switch too, so I don't think I'd carve up the underpanel to fit it in. I just put all the wiring under the hood with the switch in the on position. So the fog lights come on when the headlights come on. Not a big deal.

Not sure. I know some people heat them a bit in the oven to loosen the glue and pry off the lense. But I don't know whether this procedure applies to this light.
