Your dealer can deactivate the seat belt alarm, for a small charge. Alarm on or off is a programming parameter. the seat belt light still flashes a reminder.

That buzzer is placed behind the speedocluster. I turned a screw in that buzzer. No more buzzing anymore.
If you do a search action in this forum, you can find a complete explanation.

Has nothing to do with it. Dropping someone off, the alarm will sound when front passenger unbuckles.

Place your backpack on the seat? The alarm might beep a couple times at city speed, but once you're up to freeway speed, that thing bongs incessantly for a minute.

Recline the seat and put a 110 inch cargo in your car that goes from the driver side trunk corner to the glove box. Same thing happens as the backpack scenario even if the cargo isn't resting on the seat cushion.

Could I have fastened the seatbelts in the last two scenarios? Yeah, but the alarm didn't sound until I was 2 miles down the road going 70 MPH and I could not have predicted its activation... The alarm is a hazard in itself when the driver attempts to shut the thing off.

The alarm is a hazard in itself when the driver attempts to shut the fucking thing off on the freeway.
You are obviously very passionate about your seat belt alarm (on late model Camry's, the warning chime even shuts itself off after 30-40 seconds, even if it's not deactivated) and should act quickly to have it shut off, disconnected or otherwise immobilized so as not to put yourself in further hazardous driving situations - duh

Watch the language, okay? It's just a seatbelt alarm....go see your dealer. Problem solved.

If reaching across the vehicle to move a 9 ft long 40lb object to a position to shut off the alarm or pull the seatbelt down at 70 MPH is your idea of fun, go for it. That said 3 of 3 dealers have refused to do it even for money for safety reasons. Oh wait, moving the object doesn't shut the alarm off...it keeps going even if I move the object. Some of us don't need Toyota nannying us...my cargos were securely held with 3000lb ratchet straps. Had I known the alarm was going to sound once I got on to the freeway I would have put the seatbelt on just to shut Toyota designer up, but the alarm will sound even if the seatbelt warning light for passenger does not illuminate.

I don't know how loud your alarm is, but it's annoying and aggrivating considering that it's louder than my stereo and even the road and wind noise when going 70 MPH.

Now if only I could shut off the alarm for the handbrake. That thing is just as annoying especially living in a hilly city. Guess Toyota forgot some people need the assistance of the handbrake when launching uphill.

My guess is you've never had the pleasure of the alarm going off out of no where and no way to shut the thing off.

You are not required by law to have a chime, just a flashing light. Pick a different dealer, or wear your seatbelt or keep crap off the seat.

I personally wear my seatbelt and don't store random stuff on my seat. I can turn mine off whenever I want but what's the point? If the chime goes off then it just tells me I'm the idiot who forgot my seatbelt.

On my '06 XLE there is a proceedure for doing that somehwere in the manual. I can never find it so I printed it out somewhere, really easy to do, not sure if '07+ is the same. You have to do each seat individually and the next time you disconnect the battery, you have to do it again. Works great, did it to mine. Use your SEARCH button, if its the same as my '06 and you don't find it, LE-ME-NO.

It has something to do with cycling the key and plugging in the belt, the option shows up on the dash to enable/diable.

Found it but they are saying no go on GEN 6

Seatbelt buzzer on/off
