Hello everyone, I am brand new to this Toyota Nation forum thing so bear with me a little. I've been reading a lot of posts on 6th gen V6 Camry SE exhaust options but can't find the anwers I'm really looking for, so here goes. Pure and simple, Im between a Magnaflow XL Turbo, Magnaflow Street Series SS, Flowmaster 40's American Thunder or a couple canister mufflers. I'm not changing anything other than the mufflers at this time. I would like it to be loud but not obnoxious, deep and throaty. I will add that I am looking to add a K&N cold air kit at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Welcome to the boards. This exhaust subject has been brought up numerous times and there is no correct answer. Peoples opinions on exhaust is a personal matter. One persons "too loud" is anothers "not loud enough'. I'm running the ridiculously expensive TRD system ( I bought it used for $325) and its deeper and louder than stock but not really that loud. Sounds good in my opinion and does not resonate like so many others. I would go on YouTube and listen to sound clips of various systems. I would definitely not go with a Flowmaster or Turbo style muffler. Stick with the straight thru packed mufflers like the Magnaflow SS and don't forget to cut that big resonator out of the system.

I suppose the other question would be to remove the resonator or leave it? I'm assuming when guys talk about removing a resonator, that they're referring to the exhaust resonator and not the intake resonator?? thanks..
I went with custom cat back... Remove the resinator all it does is quiet the car and choke the flow of air, which essentially reduces horsepower (very slightly). All these brand name exhausts are useless no offense to anyone who bought them... All an exhaust is is just a bunch of pipes, so get it custom save urself some money.

The large exhaust resonator is just a straight through glass pack muffler. It doesn't cause much back pressure so the only reason to remove it is to create more sound. My TRD system does not utilize a resonator and it is not too loud at all. It's nowhere near as loud as my son's stock 04 Mustang GT. His stock exhaust sounds louder (and better) than mine.

Just trying to relate the amount of exhaust sound from my TRD system to a car we are all familiar with. You can't make a V6 sound like a V8, nothing sounds as good as a V8!!

Those Subaru sti's sound sick with the right exhaust. Better then some v8's in my opinion.

Ok fellas, we can all agree that nothing will ever sound as good as a Foxbody mustang with a h-pipe and flowmasters with 3 in dumpers. I know, I own one. Last question,, I just picked up a 3ft piece of 304 stainless from a buddy to replace the resonator. He gave me enough to replace the converter just upstream from that resonator. I didn't see any o2 sensors near that cat, especially after it. It seems that the cat would be way more restrictive than the resonator. How's about removing both?? Thanks for the vid BLACKCAMSE, it sounds great. I haven't got the coin for borla, I wish I did.
very happy with my borlas as well, not too loud but enough to stand out

Removed the cat and resonator. Welded a piece of 2.25" 304 stainless in place of those components. Hung the Magnaflow 14829's on the ass end and it sounds incredible!!! Nice deep throaty sound but not too loud. Didn't cause any issues with dash lights as of yet. Will try to post a video soon...
