Brake too spongy after a wheel stud repair

So I was replacing a wheel stud and while taking the caliper out, I accidentally unscrewed the brake fluid bolt and it drained a little bit of fluid out. I had to decompress the caliper to put the brake pads in.
everything was placed back the correct way, now the brake feels too spongy and I have to press the pedal all the way to stop the car. not feeling safe.

need a little help as I'm not sure what needs to be done here.. did I somehow get air in the system? the brake fluid cap was on the whole time. advise please.

You need to bleed the brakes to get the air out of the line. It's a two person job, one to bleed and the other to pump the brake pedal. You'll need more fluid to top off the resivoir after

did you unscrew the brake line bolt or the bleeder? If you unscrewed the brake line bolt, you definitely have air in the lines. Like Punks said, you will have to bleed the brakes to get the air out of the lines. It is a two person job if you don't have one of those one man bleeder kits.

+1 on a brake bleed. It sounds like you have air in the system.

No doubt if you removed the banjo bolt or loosened the bleader, you have air in the system.

I just purchased a universal pressure bleeder system on Ebay for about $90, well worth the $$$. I think the 1 vehicle type is more like $35, basically a garden sprayer with a hose and a master cylinder fitting. The plastic bottle one man bleeder kits aren't worth the plastic they are made of, yet they make a good catch bottle for the pressure bleeder system.

In your case the buddy foot pump will probably work, probably not a lot of air in the system. if not:

^+1 on the motive power bleeder. I've even got specialty master cylinder caps that are far superior and seal better than those shitty ones that come with the kit. Never doing a two person brake bleeding job again!

Power Probe Master Cylinder Adapters

BA11 - Works on my 05 Camry, 99 Sienna, and 01 RX300. Well worth the extra cost!
