Block heater wattage

Anyone know how many watts a block heater for a 2007 V-6 will draw? This is for the block heater that the dealer sells.

I think the block heater for the hybrid and the non-hybrid are the same and according to a post on GreenHybrid, it draws 430 watts. Not sure if it's any different for the V6.

430 watts is not going to keep maybe 2 gallons of coolant very warm.Measure the resistance of the block heater and then apply the volt, amp, ohm formula. I haven't had occassion to use that formula in so lone that I can't remember how it goes. I'm sure there are many members who use this formula often. Regards

430watts almost sounds too high.

The idea is to keep the oil warm, not boil the coolant!

Getting an accurate estimate of the power draw by measuring the resistance of the heating element is going to be kind of hard since the resistance will change with temperature.

Rather than get carried away with ohmmeters and Ohm's Law, a simple wattmeter would determine the draw under working conditions.

HOWEVER, my local Toyota dealer tells me that it's 400 watts.

Thanks for the replies,
