Camry TRD install question

So I installed my springs yesterday and my question is, Do i have to cut the bumstop? Because i can fell a clunking and hear it every time the front ends drops more than normal. I did surch on the DIY section but there was only one answer from a member.

My dealer installed the TRD springs for me, and I don't think they cut anything!

you shouldn't be cutting anything. check that everything is tight, some bolt somewhere may be loose, especially the end links. did you orient the strut mount and the spring insulator correctly? it is supposed to go on a certain way, if it's not oriented correctly it could certainly cause a clunking sound.

there should be marks or arrows on both the strut mount and the spring insulator... those arrows point out from the car, in line with the knuckle mount.

DO NOT cut the bumpstops, they're designed to prevent bottoming out.

Also, grease your springs with white lithium grease to get rid of the noises, it WILL make more noises in the future, so make sure u soak those springs in WLG. Just spray and rub the coils with ur hands (use gloves of course).

i had the same clunking when i did mine a few months ago.. i did a combination of clocking that piece you have pictured above(mine had blue marks from factory that you could see in the engine bay. they were pointing toward each other, i turned them to face toward the cabin of the car) and making sure i put the same pressure on the strut where it connects to the knuckle assembly(the 2 big i think 22mm bolts)..im not 100% but think they use this adjustment for camber.. i had to pull everything apart and reassemble a few times to eliminate this noise.

the noise is causes by the spring binding..have someone turn the wheel while you look up under it and youll see the coils of the spring get really tight right before the noise is emitted..

take more pics and i can describe more what i did to eliminate the clunking.. you will need an alignment after the install..mine pulls to the right but its only noticeable if you take your hand off the wheel for a second..

Can you tell me what side does the strut bearing go on? Like the pic or the other way around?
