Gen6 Electric problem?

straight to the chase... i was swapping out my trunk light into an LED one. while i was pulling, the light suddenly turns off. i manage to change the bulb but then i notice my map, dome, trunk, and courtesy door lights (all of which were also swapped out for LEDs) wont turn on at all

however, i did notice when i hit the unlock button that the dome and trunk lights "spark" but dont turn on.

anybody have an answer to this? would a local autobody be able to fix it for cheap?

thanks in advanced
merry christmas to all :P

Sounds like you shorted something and blew a fuse but maybe the break wasn't big enough to prevent arcing. Check that first.

You didn't just stick a LED straight into the socket right? The LED will be instantly destroyed and take a fuse out with it.

the outage occurred while i was pulling the oem bulb out
halfway through the process the bulb just turned off.
i took the bulb out and then popped the LED one in... maybe thats when it short circuited and blew a fuse?

new TN member question: how would i check the break to see if its strong enough? haha

If you use multimeter ohm or continuity check, to see if the fuse is blown.

It does sound a bit strange that there might be arcing but I don't know how else to explain such a problem. Now if you damaged an IC or something in such a way that it causes intermittent failure, then that's a bigger problem.

+!, I'm betting that you blew a fuse. Shouldn't be a big deal once you find the fuse.

What was the problem? Was it a fuse? It will be very helpful for anyone else who stumbles upon this thread to know what the problem was.
