Bumper cover 06 Camry LE Fog light install

Hi
I have found some interesting threads on the forum concerning the install of after market fog lights. I would like to add them to my '06 Camry

I don't have them now , nor does my bumper cover have the cutouts
for them. However my bumper cover does have the indentations
where the cutout is. I wonder if anyone has cutout the hole themselves.
My bumper cover is already beat up , so I am not too overly concerned
with a really professional flawless job, just neat.

It is only plastic and does not seem like it would be too hard
to follow the outline already there. Not sure what the best tool
to use to cut it out though to make as neat as possible.

Does anyone have any experience cutting this out
or any suggestions?

I have located some nice OEM fog light kits that are in my budget.
I opened the cover under the bumper only to discover that the
wiring harness for the fog lamps is already there.

Is it as simple as plugging in the new lamps?
I know I am dreaming.

On this vehicle, where was the fog light switch located?

Also on a side note, I have also considered these LED light bars
as an alternative , if this project becomes too complicated.

Does anyone have any opinion or experience comparing
the difference between the standard fog lamps and the LED bars?

TIA

people certainly have cut out the holes themselves, but IMO I couldn't trust myself to do a clean job. Additionally, you would have to fabricate mounts for the fog lights, since the bumpers that are solid do not have anything to mount them to. That's why I opted to just buy a SE bumper instead. However, if you do want to attempt to cut the holes out yourself, I would think a dremel would be your best bet.

As far as your car being pre-wired, you may or may not need the relay, or the fuse, or both. You will definitely need a switch though: OEM headlight switch that has the fog light switch built in or ebay switch. In my case, I needed the relay and I opted to use the OEM headlight switch. The ebay fog light kits have a switch that goes into one of the rectangular cutouts in the dashboard and a wiring harness that taps into the stock wiring. I didn't like the cheap quality of either the fog lights or the kit, so I went OEM all the way.

In the event i opt to locate a bumper cover, will the SE bumper cover fit the LE? I am having difficulty locating a '06 LE bumper cover that has the cutouts for the fog lamps.

Also, you mentioned I would have to fabricate a way to mount them
Does the SE bumper cover have a mounting bracket?
How did you mount your fog lamps?

Should there be holes in the bumper reinforcement to mount the lights in?
I am unable to find any detailed information or a diagram which might help me understand how to mount the lights.

TIA

SE or XLE bumper cover will fit the LE. I have the SE on my '05 LE. '05 and '06 have the same body style, so include '05 in your search to get more results. If the bumper has the cutouts already, it will have mounting brackets built into the bumper.

I have bought OEM fog lamps and an OEM SE bumper with cutouts, so everything is mounted and installed as it would have come with the car if it had fog lamps originally. I don't believe there are holes in the bumper reinforcement to mount the lights, and it's too far away to really mount them solidly.

if u go with an aftermarket make sure u go with a CAPA certified unit but make sure u test fit it (i had a bit of a fiasco with mine)

se/xle style have the cut outs and mounts already for the fogs...... just pick up some self tapping screws from the dealer and the fogs mount right in..... if u want quality go oem but i do have a set of cheap ebay ones in right now (only cuz theyre ricer yellow) but i stil have the originals.... the originals had much better light output and a better beam pattern

i would recommend you to get the se bumper and they will fit...i have tried cutting the bumper which i did was a pretty good job. I used the dremel to cut and buff it out the uneven surfaces. but the mounting is no way to fit in unless ur getting the 02-04 camry fog which it is way smaller than 05 and 06.

I have this problem too. Its one or the other. Its either you get a new bumper (more money) or just be really careful and use a dremel to cut the holes in your bumper. But since there are no brackets mounting it on is going to be difficult because you need to glue it on and you have to level it. Ive done a lot of research on it and there are some members on there that have actually done it and it worked well for them but it's going to take a while. Also they said to glue it on the bumper, some people used B weld. Other than that, good luck with your project!

FYI if your cutting the bumper...u gotta be good with measuring the mount and positioning the fog light...Ive done the cutting and mounting but at the end what is fudge me up is the bumper reinforcement. if youre off by few mm then ur gotta glue and do it again.
