This would eliminate a temperature problem that you stated.
While they are testing the amplifier they may need to check the glass mounted antenna for any small cracks in the elements.
They have a procidure to check the heating element for breaks in the circuit, so the steps used for that, should apply to the antenna also, except using ohms instead of volts.
