Xenon Depot HID Kit humming noise

I installed a Xenon Depot Xtreme HID kit without the relay harnesses that came with it. I was lazy. I hear a humming noise coming out of both ballast, and my question is did the install without the relay harnesses caused this humming noise? I did a bit of research and some forums said that this noise is normal and also some people on different forums said that they've been running their HIDs without relays for years and it's fine. I just wanna know if installing these harnesses will eliminate the noise and is it ok if I run it without them. Thanks in advance for the helps.

I got the pilot hids from them and they buzz a little, not nearly as bad as some I've had. And I don't have the relay harness either.

it won't necessarily eliminate the noise, but it is still a good idea to install the relay harnesses. the one time you were lazy and something happens... what then?

most HID ballasts will make a bit of a humming noise especially during warm up, so what you hear is normal.

Ah that's good to hear well the humming noise is loud during start up but you can't hear it inside the car anywhere, but after a while you can barely hear anything outside of the car so I'm not worried about it. Thanks for the clear up guys.

I'm gonna go run my HID for a few more days without the relay harnesses and just install them when I have the time, it's just laying there anyway so I might as well do it.

Thanks very much for the help. Hope this help more people thinking about installing HIDs

XenonDepot HID kits use low draw ballasts so you can safely power them directly from the OEM wiring without the use of a relay harness. The benefit of using a relay harness is that you are ensuring that the ballasts always receive a constant 12v =) The humming noise is perfectly normal.

Regards,

Steve

All of the above is true - Even the factory installed HID on my Camry makes a loud enough humming if you open the bonnet while the motor is off

Do Camry in Jamaica have HID option? Are they using D4S? Is it 07-11 Camry or 12 Camry?

I read a comment on HIDPlanet saying that the new 12 Camry has HID option because the manual says the bulb is H11 or D4S.

I have a 2007 Camry G which is a Japanese Domestic - Right Hand drive. It would be equivalent to XLE smart key. On like the ones sold here from Toyota Jamaica, the Japanese Domestic Camry has more additional features including the factory HId 4300k. I dont know what is D4S.
Here is a Link on what they look like.

I see. Camry cars manufactured in Asia often have more options than ones here. D4S is a bulb type used in HID light (like H11 for halogen light).
