2002 Camry 4 cyl Tranny Issues

I did a search on the CEL P0770 and P0765 codes and I find plenty in regards to the light on but every post I have seen, says the tranny is working fine. Not the case with mine. Tranny is slipping, and if you let it sit for 30 mins or so, it will run fine then start surging and slipping. Got to where I couldnt get it to move at all. It says B, D E trans shift solenoid for the codes. I dont want to put in this new solenoid and have not fix the issue. Is my tranny toast? Seems electrical since it will work fine once it sits for a bit. Plus, with the OD disengaged, it seemed to work fine, but even then it was acting up? I bought it used with 140k and dont know if tranny was serviced or not. I think it has due to lots of oil change receipts etc from the past 4 years.. Any help is apppreciated..
Thanks

What does the tranny fluid look like? Hows the level? First thing I would do is drain and fill 4 qts T-IV, see what happens

+1. How's the condition and level of the ATF. If OP doesn't know the service history then the transmission was probably never serviced.

Maybe drop the pan the replace the filter and inspect the pan/magnets for debris. Then fill it back up with dino T-IV or fully synthetic Valvoline MaxLife ATF. A cooler line flush should help clear most of the old fluid.

Then see if the transmission acts better with the new ATF and filter. Otherwise maybe check with your local Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association member shop. Some may be duds, so check references:

+1 The Trannys go forever so long as you stay with T-IV.

Wow it took 5 qts! Either Trans fluid was low, or transmission extremely hot.

I think it was low and this is part of why it was slipping. The old fluid wasnt in the best shape but it wasnt completely burnt either. Normal gray goo on magnets and no signs of anything abnormal... So So Grateful. Thanks again guys!!
