2009 Camry LE ABS light

Hey guys,

I got my front CV half axle replaced yesterday by a local garage. When driving to work this morning, my ABS light came on. Could this be something the mechanic did or just a co-incidence?

Too soon for a half-shaft?

Get that sensor checked... Loose?

What do you mean, too soon? I had a busted boot for a while so i replaced the whole thing. I'll call the garage today and see if they can look at it

Sorry, just courious about the half shaft. I had a dealer put a boot on one for me and it didn't last 2 years and cost as much as the half shaft. Good decision on your part...

I hope they find the problem.

The new axle could have had some contaminate on one or more of the serrated segments that rotate very close to the pick-up sensor. The sensor may have been damaged during the repair. Unlikely but still possible, the new axle may not have the serrations period. Stranger things have happened. Regards.

Thanks for the responses guys,

Luna, I thought about a boot repair but it really didn't cost that much more for the half shaft, glad I went that route, I also had an alignment done and the car handles like new!

Donald, I took it back, the guy put it on the jacks with me there and we had a look, the disc/ring at the pick-up sensor on the new angle seemed a little indented/warped compared to the one on the driver side although I still don't know that's the cause because he reset the sensor electronically and the light hasn't come on since. Hopefully it just needed re-set, I'll post again if it ends up being that ring.

Thanks again guys!
