auto dime interior mirror camry 2004

I'm having problems with the auto dimmer mirror in my camry 2004, it work some times but most of the time didn't work and is really difficult to use it during the night because the lights from cars behind shine directly in my eyes. The compass in the mirror works all the time but the dimmer not, I notice that the green light in the bottom of the mirror is off most of the time.
I need help with any idea of what the problem is with it?

I believe those mirrors use a light sensor sort of like what is on the dash board for your Auto Function.

The sensor may be bad or dirty. Try cleaning all around the mirror. It may also have failed and require replacement.
