How to turn off oil reset button?

I just bought my 09' LE a couple weeks ago and today had a "Maintenance req'd" light pop up.

Being certified and I had just got the car 2 weeks earlier, I began panicking. Thankfully read the owner's manual and saw it just means an oil change needed.

I read there's a reset button, any way to disable it? I know how to reset but I mean permanently disable it.

Its in the owners manual and you would want to turn it off if you do your own oil changes. Its not the check engine light just a oil one so its ok to turn it off yourself.

I think you have to put it on trip A first and then turn off the car. Then turn it to the on position while holding the trip button and your trip display should show a few lines like this ------ after a while and your done!

BTW next time try a search helps keep the forum clean from a bunch of already answered questions

You would be correct. I use this as well since I am now running 5W30 fully synthetic mobil 1. I have no need to change it every 5k miles.

Hope this helps and yes it needs to be on trip A.

Thanks for your answer but I am asking how to permanently disable it, not reset it. I know how to reset it like that.

Don't think you need to permanently disable it but if you choose to do so.... Just pull the bulb

The only way would be to try and remove the bulb. However it isnit worth the hassle of removing and potentially damaging the cluster when you can just reset it every 5K or earlier before it comes on.

An LED lamp is a "Bulb" it just uses an LED as a light source And that is why I mentioned "potentially damaging the cluster"
