Gen5 Performance Upgrade Recommendations

I was wondering what some of the GEN5 owners have done for better performance, if any, from their cars.

Its time to upgrade the car since its 5+ years old (2006 Camry SE) and I wouldn't mind tweakin' it.

Looking to change out the following:
-Exhaust
-Plugs and wires
-Air Intake

Can't think of anything else......

I know the 87 octane (plus 10% or more Ethanol) isn't helping the car much. Wish there was some place in the Houston/Galveston area where I could get some Ethanol-free fuel.

So what have some of you guys did to your Camry Gen5?

which engine?

unfortunately there isnt too much availble in the aftermarket to "improve" camry engines.....

as far as exhaust there is no complete aftermarket exhaust availble for a gen 5.... there is a TRD muffler availble and its very nice but expensive ($400-500)....... i personally had a flowmaster 40 series welded in place (the original was destroyed after i got hit and the aftermarket one that was put on was trash)...... it is a bit brash but has a unique sound and isnt bothersome to me most of the time.... u could also have a shop weld in larger piping from the cat back but honestly it wouldnt do much

far as plugs the best plugs u can have in a camry are already installed from the factory.... it never hurts to replace them if u want.... i would go with ngk or denso irridium ($7-8 a piece)..... and btw it doesnt use plug wires

air intake i would go with k&n for the 4 banger..... i have it and i love the extra engine growl and the intake sound at high rpm...... k&n doesnt make an intake for the v6... only one ive seen is an injen and it doesnt look too bad

Buy a car built for performance.... It's a Camry...

That said... Go with a custom catback, you can do an SRI or CAI... but you won't gain anything from them, but sound. Just stick with your OEM brand plugs/wires.

The best thing you can do to enhance performance, is all suspension and wheels and tires. Springs/coil overs, replace the sway bars, get light weight rims and good tires. If you are inclined do a brake upgrade.

I track my car, i have a big brake kit, using Supra TT rotors and Gen 3 Camry twin pot calipers (neither are direct bolt on). I am on Eibach lowering springs, i have a TRD RSB, stock STB... Intake, custom catback exhaust... It is a V6 and has enough power for what i do with it. In the future i will S/C it though. Once my Legacy is paid off.

OBX sells a bunch of universal shit if you really want performance. Get the autozone intake, you can pick up OBX headers, and then exhaust just get a catback. But why spend the money.......just get suspension upgrades and FEEL like you're going faster.

I removed my muffler and had the shop weld a pipe + tip.
It sounds interesting, it's loud from 1-3KRPM, especially at night it's loud.
Although when mashing it, you feel the throttle response a lot more.
