replacment mud/spash guard thingymabob

My 2011 Camry SE started making this weird noise recently that seemed to come from the area of the left rear tire. When I got down to look at it there was a small peice of black plastic molding handing down from the front of the wheel well in front of the tire. It was rubbing the ground/tire. I took it to the dealer and the guy told me that it's not important - some kind of splash guard thing that comes on the car from the factory. I thought those were always on the back of the wheel well - go figure. Anways he said it was nothing important but he didn't know if he could reattach it because it was so beaten up. He also indicated I could do better than getting a new one from the dealer ship at $25. So just had him take it off and went home. Of course - my husband is annoyed because it's a new car and I left it off. Anyone know what the heck that thing is called and where I could get a new one aftermarket. From what I saw I could even attach the thing :P not rocket science but would make Mr. "why did you do that" happy! Thanks~

If you are talking about the piece that is around 6-8 inches long and rectangular it is attached with I believe 2 screws. I have seen a few Camrys with it hanging off usually caused my scraping it against the curb pulling into a driveway. Usually they can be reattached. I tried finding it on my parts diagrams and can't. The dealer should be able to pull it up. It isn't important but it is nice to have it there.

Try looking at a salvage yard. If they don't have one at your local yard, they can inquire through their network and get one for you. Probably much cheaper than the dealer and easy to install yourself.

IIRC it is less than 15 bucks for a new one at the dealer.

My dealership said $25. IF I can't find one to order myself i'll just get one when I go back in a few weeks for an oil change.

those are wheel "air dams"...simple to replace. i cannot tell you the price, and frankly, you may not even want to spend the money. all they do is re-direct the air around your tires for "co-efficiency. you would never notice the difference.

I ran over a 18 wheeler tire on the highway and mine broke of both on the front and rear. Dealership replaced it no charge. I guess. I got lucky.
