OttoNavi or Erisin?

Since I dont get any response when posting in the nav forum, ill post it here.

I want to upgrade my stereo system to a Nav system. I found two that has an OEM look. Ottonavi and Erisin. Im stuck between these two because firstly, i never heard of these brands before so i dont know how they will work. secondly, they both have their own unique look and functions that caught my attention. What are your thoughts about these two I found or if you found better one please do tell.

This is for a 2010 Camry Le.

Ottonavi:

Erisin:
http://www.erisin.com/erisin-es866c-...-gps_p167.html

The difference is about $100.

Can't say much because I haven't owned either one of those brands. A while back I had an EONON deck for my 2007 Camry and I wasn't too pleased with it. Very poor performance and these look very similar to those. I have heard that the Erisin is no different at least from some friends who used to have it.

If your choice is limited to those two, then my edge would go towards Ottonavi. If you are willing to forgo the stock look a double din unit, such as pioneer, alpine or kenwood with a metra kit may be the best choice in terms of quality and reliability

Good hunting

Two more options are the Rosen line of radios and one by Advent. The Advent model number is OTOCAM2. Not sure about the Rosen model number. The Advent one is by far the best in all that I have researched. But then at the price it had better be. The Rosen ones are about twice what you can get a Erisin for but again, much better. I have a Rosen coming in this week and can tell you more next weekend.

I have also researched the Ottonav one and that one is no better than the Chinese ones despite what they will tell you. One clue is the AM/FM specs (FM (3*6)87.5-108MHz Increment 0.05MHz AM (2*6)522-1620KHz Increment: 9 KHz) The American standard for AM is 10KHz steps. Notice this one has 9 KHz steps. Here in the States you will not be able to pick up some stations.

I completely agree with you but the problem with the Advent and Rosen units is that they are so close in price to the OEM unit why not just go with OEM? Thats what I am thinking at least, but I am certainly glad I didn't go with an Ersin unit as I would probably be disappointed with the cheap interface and quirks.

I have read reports that the OEM unit has ancient software and it does cost quite a bit to upgrade the GPS maps(from the dealer). Not only that, the OEM unit is only for JBL equipped cars. I have seen reports that the OEM unit retails for something in the range of $4200 new!. On the other hand, the other radios can be used in both non-JBL and JBL systems(with an adapter). I have not used ANY of these but should have my Rosen on Thursday and I intend to install that this coming weekend. I have done quite a bit of research before jumping. I have two Camrys I intend to upgrade neither which have JBL.

I wish I had the funds to buy one of each brand and model to compare them side-to-side and do a real comparison from the user's side of things.

Hello, I have decided on a Rosen for my 11 XLE with JBL. I received the package the other day and will self install next week. What has been confusing is that the Rosen part numbers are difficult to discern. For example the unit I bought was a TY0710. I then returned this one for a TY0710-H11. This one has updated map s/w, 11 million POI's and A2DP music sreaming capabilities. From later research I think the latest Rosen model out there is a TY0710-P11. But I was able to get mine as an open box with full warrantly for much less than a new -P11. Plus I still can't accurately determine what the differences are between the H and the P models. One thing for certain, these units (Rosen and Advent) blow away the factory installed OEM's. I have a factory unit in my wife's Highlander, its okay but not nearly the same amount of features as the aftermarket units.

I have the Erisin and the ONLY complaint i have is that the sound quality isnt better than the stock JBL premium system I had. But other than that it is full of features, features that actually work and arent just advertised. Plus, steering wheel controls work without the need to purchase an aftermarket adapter.

btw i posted a full review of the Erisin HU in post #48 in my update thread. the link is in my sig.
