Gen6 Need some help drastically here guys!

Ok so I ordered a part from Toyota, a Dash Wiring Harness, and I have not received and its been forever since I ordered it. So i figured I would try and find one in the meantime and use that one until Toyota sends me the part I ordered from them.

So I found a few harnesses but i keep running into the same problem. My camry is an 07 SE V6 and the part number specific to my type of car is 82141-06J60. The problem I run into is that the only ones I can find are 82141-06J50. I called a few toyota dealerships and they all explained to me that the only difference between the -06J60 harness and the -06J50 harness is that the -06J60 has VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) and the -06J50 does not have VSC. I was told that every single plug is the same except that one will be missing, obviously the VSC plug.

So my question to you guys or to anyone who can answer is: Can I use a -06J50 harness on my car without it doing any damage to the vehicle? Or would the car run exactly the same except that the VSC dash light would remain on? Would the VSC feature just be turned off?

Please guys I need the great minds on TN to help me here because school started and I need my car ASAP. Thanks in advance.

careful not to bump so much you might get an infraction bro.

ugh usually i would be able to help but electrical stuff = not so good.

i'll let someone else answer if possible but it sounds like a pretty bad problem that you'll either have to go with your guts or try to test it out..

Does your car have VSC? Does it have a VSC switch?

If you installed it and your car has VSC you would have all the VSC off Light illuminated, Trac OFF light illuminated, and Check engine light illuminated always.

And obviously the system wouldn't work.

Why are you replacing this harness anyway?

My car came from factory with VSC and no to my knowledge it doesnt have a VSC switch.

-i figured that would be the outcome with all the lights being on but i just wanted to know how that would make the system malfunction. I figured that everything would work fine, since every other plug would be accounted for and plugged in, except that my car would lack the VSC feature. But I have 0 knowledge in this and it is just my assumption.

And last but not least, I am replacing my harness because I went to an auto shop to install a viper alarm and the erisin head unit and the guy installing it burnt the original harness with the test light. He sent electricity back into the harness where there wasnt any current and it caught on fire and he burnt a piece of the harness rendering it useless.

The reason why im trying to find a new one is because he paid me the money to order one from the Toyota Dealership. So i ordered it some time ago and its taking Toyota months to give me the harness I need because they cant gather the parts they need to make the harness. Its already been a few months and I've just been waiting for it. This is due to the Tsunami that hit Japan and it destroyed the Toyota parts manufacturing building. Or so they say.

So as a result, I've been calling junkyards all around the US checking to see if they have a camry with the same exact harness I need at a fraction of the cost. So far I've only found harnesses for LE's and XLE's which are completely incompatible and the SE harness which lack the VSC feature. I've literally made over 120 calls with no luck.

I basically need to know if I can purchase this harness in the meantime while toyota sends me the right harness and that it wont damage my car. And if it does damage my car i'd like to know how and why (it cant hurt right? )

Well thats my whole story, sorry for the essay but i figured I'd say the whole story once and not over and over again. Thanks for all the help guys, I know some people just say thanks but i really mean it. Thanks for all the help guys!!

If your car has vsc, then you wait for the right harness.

You are right. I forgot that these are always on VSC.

IF you put that harness in it would be missing what I can only assume is the plug the VSC ECU. Even if it isn't the ECU any one VSC plug unplugged will trigger a system fault and deactivate the system. This means that even though everything else is plugged in the VSC will not work. And when VSC doesn't work TRAC (traction control) doesn't work either. The vehicle should start, run, drive, stop and all that good stuff.

However to do all that would require disassembling the dash. And then you would have to do all that over again to reinstall the correct harness.

If the car is sitting right now because of this. Buy the right harness.

VSC is something I'm fine with not having. I just want the car to run fine because school started and its a half hour drive.

This is just for the meantime until toyota ships me the right harness. And im lucky that they guy who messed up my harness understands me and is willing to install the temporary harness while the right harness gets here.

So go ahead and install the other harness in the mean time.

You will however find that the VSC, TRAC OFF, and maybe even the ABS lights are on.

Also I hope you are right and the VSC plug is all that is different and not some kind of major other plug. There is only one way to find out.

Also I just did a cross reference and you can use the harness from a 2007 to 2009 LE or SE V6 with VSC. It doesn't have to be an SE and the XLE won't work.

Wow thanks a lot buddy. That makes it a little easier on me knowing that i can use 07-09 but im gonna make it strictly SE's since it has the right features that my SE has.
