5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Had a '94 back in 2000-2006, loved that car. Drove the shit out of it and got 184k+ out of it before I traded it in for a '03 Pontiac Grand Prix, that was the worst car I've ever owned. Got rid of the GP less than 2 years later for a '08 Scion tC.
Gave the tC to my folks since they only had 1 car.
Been daily driving my Z06 since I got home from deployment in October and finally got a 2008 Camry after months of searching through various makes, models and years. Shoulda just came back to old reliable in the first place.
Only has 18,3xx miles on it. It's just a base model with the cloth interior, no sunroof or anything fancy. Just needed a commuter for road trips that could fit more than 2 people. I usually road trip in my Z06 but this will be much more practical.
Going to change out all the fluids next week, tint the windows and order some nice floor mats. I noticed that Lloyd doesn't make floor mats for Toyota, that sucks. I like their floor mats, I have a set for my Z06 and their mats are nice quality.

Any suggestions on floor mats?
Here is a pic:
Congrats on the car, and as for floor mats I have the weather tech floor liners. I love them. If ur looking for carpet floor mats then idk.
Very nice. Just get rid of those steel wheels and get a nice set of OEM Alloys.
Oh yeah, definitely going to change out those steel wheels. It's not a high priority right now but it's something I'd like to do. First thing is gonna be window tint, hopefully, I can get an appointment this week. Gonna go with 25% or 30% so the cops don't give me trouble.
Was also thinking about some TSW's for the wheels. Probably gonna stay with a stock size or maybe jump to a 17"
I always look on craigslist and forums. So for example if you want to swap to a Lexus GS300 wheel look on the Lexus forums. Sometimes wheels may pop up here.

yeah that's a good degree of tint I'd say. I have 35% front and 18% rear. I wish I had gone 18% all around though..
At least 18"! 17s too small, STILL looks like stock lol.
^ you want that dont you? those are 18s on both of them.

There's a lot of people selling in on forums like zilvia.net or clublexus.com
^they have our bolt patterns 5x114.3
just look for something around 17 or 18x8 or x8.5 with offsets around 30 and you'll be fine
if not, just try to search around some sites, vendors usually post their websites on For Sale sections as well. just have to do some searching.
if that still doesnt sit right with you, try to look up some aftermarket vendors that reside on the east coast so you can save on shipping.
but like hardtopte72 said, craigslist works too.

So you buy other car's stock wheels? or you just love stock wheels to death?
stock wheels are good i guess, but depends on what kind of car.
take camrys for one, small and skinny wheels, only upside is possibly better mileage.
and then you have M3s that come with great stock fitment
personally i hate toyota's OEM wheels..IS350 is 18x8 but we get 17x7 on our "Sport" (SE) trim!?

I like stock wheels for fitment, reliability, and quality (driven way too many cars with vibration, out of round wheels, crappy lug nuts, hub ring problems to like OEM wheels). And I like to take wheels from other Toyotas/Lexus and put them on mine.
Like my grandmas 92 Camrys has 07 XLE wheels, I have some tC wheels for my Corolla, and I am looking for either GS300/GS350 17's or maybe some Avalon touring wheels soon. I like 18s and 19s and that blue Camry is EXACTLY how I would like to make mine look. But honestly my wife drives it mostly. I have a project car and a daily driver. I have to tell myself to make the separation.
But if I throw a UR rear sway bar and maybe some H&R springs who cares right?

I hear u on that part about the OEM durability/quality.
I personally only buy from reputable wheel companies like Work, considered Advans and Rays Engineering (makes the G35 forged among other OEM), etc. My current set is pretty decent but the style doesn't fit our cars, and i only bought it because of their wide customer base in VW/BMW, like literally it's either VMR or BBS for those guys.
That blue camry is Eyezack87's and won 3rd in Toyotafest 2011.
Those are the VMR VB3s, used in many BMW.VW.euros.
reliable unlike XXR's and Rota aftermarket wheels, I've seen about 5 of them crack and break and total cars on the side of the road because their wheel blew out.
Yeah who cares what you to do your car, as long as you like it
sorry to steal the thread/go offtopic for a bit but I hope there has been some contributions from this off-discussion
