Gen6 09 camry v6 transmission

hey guys well i just hit 40,000 miles and spring time is quickly approaching and i was thinking about getting my transmission fluid changed soon. I think im probably going to take it to the mechanic i always go to to get it changed. I asked him how he would change the fluid if it was a sealed tranny and he claimed they can pull it out through the cooling lines? Is this a safe way of doing this? I also saw this video....does this apply to an 09 camry v6 also? thanks in advance!

Theres a fill hole on the side of the trans. And the "drain bolt" on the trans isn't a drain bolt. There's a sleeve that goes up there which is how fluid is adjusted. Fluid is at the right level when fluid "trickles out" if you drop the pan it should take about 3 quarts. But the fill procedure is a PITA. I'll post pics of the paperwork I have from all data. As ill be doing my trans soon

Don't change it - may cause more harm than good

Your car has lifetime synthetic "WS" - World Standard fluid that is designed to last the life of your car and is not compatable with other types of tranny fluid. Changing the fluid is a very delicate operation. If you do any damage to tranny, you could void your warranty. I would at least hold off until 60,000 miles for warranty purposes. [I have an 09V6 too on which I do flawless maintenance. In all our prior Toyota/Lexus vehicles, we changed fluid every 30,000 miles. I decided not to even think about it until 100,000 on this one.]

Direct copy and paste from TSB - TC010-07 (dated 6-28-07):

World Standard (WS) Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) was introduced to reduce maintenance costs and increase the mileage between scheduled maintenance checks. Here are some important tips when working with ATF-WS in Toyota vehicles requiring
its use.

100,000 Maintenance Interval — Inspection only; ATF-WS does NOT require any
flushing or changing during the life of the vehicle.

The use of Genuine Toyota ATF-WS is recommended.

The use of additives or aftermarket fluids that are considered compatible
or substitutes may result in shift concerns and damage to the internal
transmission components.

ATF-WS is NOT compatible with T-IV or Dexron ATF.

Containers storing Toyota ATF-WS should always be sealed — If exposed to the
atmosphere, ATF-WS may absorb moisture and potentially cause shift concerns if
used in operation.

One time use only.

When performing repairs on ATF-WS equipped transaxles, it is important to use
only
new, clean ATF–WS when refilling the ATM.

ATF-WS equipped ATMs may use the overflow type procedure — Any fluid
drained from the overflow plug should be discarded following proper local
regulations and never reused. Failure to do so could result in shift concerns and

damage to the internal transmission components.

One of the main reasons i drive toyotas is because they are so easy to work on and maintain. I like to/want to maintain my cars. If I cant drain the tranny it would drive me nuts knowing there is old fluid in there. I'm just not bought in on lifetime fluids yet.

The 2007 and newer camry is supposed to go 100k on the tranny fluid but I have been told by a few Toyota techs to change it at 50k. It takes a special set up to change the fluid the trans fluid has to be around 115 degrees and it is a drop and fill type fluid exchange.
